Can't wait to watch these games. Now only if lolesports had a companion mobile app with up-to-date stats, content, and highlight plays associated with the games...[slayer-jinx-catface]

It's not an official Riot app, but I do like TheScore eSports app (not sure if its also on android store). They keep improving the app all the time and the in-game overviews are getting more and more detailed. They post a lot of highlight clips during games as well.

TSM vs CLG

iamleburk5 votes

From what we saw at IEM, that won't even be kind of close. TSM will wreck them with this new roster

EDIT: If you're going to downvote me at least put up an argument. Who actually thinks this matchup will be anywhere near close? CLG lost doublelift and pobelter... the only good players they have are aphromoo and Zion now. Meanwhile TSM has a world class player in every position

Do joke. Mr Dihn has some deep ass pockets to drop yellowstar out of the european sky he was shining in.

Don't make snap decisions off of one week. I still think TSM is by far the better team, but CLG retained more of its roster and are using that synergy to perform in these games. It did more than i expected, I'll give them that, I just don't think it'll hold up once the other teams start to come into their own.

But yea, that prediction for that match was incorrect.

Maybe next week

iamleburk1 votes

Lol oh well. I think they need more time together, seem to lack cohesiveness atm, but the individual skill is still there.

Yeah, Echo Fox is owned by former NBA player Rick Fox and is the team that bought Gravity

TrollFan012 votes

The money matches will be TSM vs C9 vs IMMORTALS vs NRG round robin. Top 4 right here. 3 are going to Worlds.

XpertSkills1 votes

What about CLG

iamleburk1 votes

They don't look very strong with Huhi. I think they'll be good at first but once the other teams start learning how to work together they'll start to fall a couple of spots. By the time worlds is coming up, this roster simply won't cut it. They have a carry top and a good mid game shot caller. Mean while NRG has a carry mid, carry top, and carry AD, Immortals have a super good top/jungle duo with no glaring weak points (wildturtle is dodgy, but i think he'll be better than stixxay), C9 will absolute wreck them with the super good mid and jungle, and against C9 CLG's shot calling will be useless. Let's not even talk about TSM, they're roster looks extremely good right now, I hate TSM but atm it looks like they might be #1 in the league by worlds.

AllThatChaz1 votes

At least in the spring you have to go with TSM, C9, and CLG. They are the only teams that appear to have any real experience playing together in LCS-level play. In summer I can see Immortals or maybe NRG doing well enough to earn a spot to worlds. But I think 2016 is going to belong to TSM, at least in NA. They've put together a roster of basically the best English-speaking players at mid, adc, and support. Jungle and top just need to hold down the fort, but since when has that not worked for TSM?

That said, there's still some time before the first game. New talent is going to have to show up, because a lot of the established talent seems to have left. I'm excited to see what happens.

TrollFan011 votes

I think you have a good point there. I don't know about CLG but TSM and C9 will for sure. I'm not sure on CLG because even after IEM San Jose they haven't named a ADC yet and if Stixxay isn't their ADC after that I don't like their chances.

AllThatChaz1 votes

I include CLG because at least 4 of their 5 have significant practice time together. They are also coming off winning NA, so that has to count for something. I honestly just expect the spring to be pretty haphazard. I expect TL to fall off with the loss of Quas and Xpecial, not to mention IWDominate moving out of the game house. DIG picked up EU Challenger players who I expect to need time to develop. Renegades, NRG, and Immortals have to have some growing pains as they come together, and I give Immortals the best chance to shine out of them. TIP and Echo Fox don't even have rosters yet, and the pool of NA talent has shrunk, so it's unlikely whoever they pick up will immediately have an impact. TSM, C9, and CLG rise to the top just out of a lack of competition.

I predict TSM, C9, CLG, TL (forever 4th<3), Immortals, Renegades, NRG, DIG, TIP, Echo Fox. And I expect TSM and C9 to pretty handily take care of everyone, and CLG to be able to beat anyone that isn't TSM or C9. Of course this is all conjecture considering we don't have rosters. I just miss LCS and think about it a lot.

I see your point and given how a good number of the teams don't even have a roster, not to say a complete one, at all isn't going to help them. Some teams like Renegades and CLG are only missing one player so the others can pick up the slack while the new guy gets his bearings.

TSM and C9 are going to walk over everyone in the Spring and most likely meet up in the finals (again). Summer will be trickier but I still see those 2 in the finals there too thus sowing up the top 2 seeds from NA.

Magnum Mack1 votes

I don't think CLG is as cohesive now. A lot of CLG was their bot lane duo being so in-sync. They didn't really shine to me in much else. You're looking at a decent support in aphromoo who is terribly aggressive at times with a new adc that flat out isn't 2xlift and may not flow the same. their cohesion is weaker than it ever has been.

TSM isn't too far off in that regard, but their sheer level of mechanical play AND the shot calling of yellowstar may be enough to pull them all together. How d-lift and y-star/doublestar/yellowlift work together will be interesting. I have a feeling it won't be like the rush hour plays we are used to but more subdued and calculated. A sniper rifle compared to a cannon.

C9 is C9. they are the ones I expect to run through a lot of the competition. TSM will be close behind and compete heavily. I just don't see CLG ebing a dominant force this year. They might get it together near the end, but I don't feel they have the mechanical skill and shot calling power to compete with C9 show calling or TSM raw skill.

TSM has the most going for them right now. C9 has a wonderful shot with their plays like usual. CLG is not on that level right now. NRG, Immortals and CLG all fall into the same vein with me right now.

Mostly agreeing with this... Although if you watched Hauntzer at IEM, he looked pretty darn good. Love Dyrus but I think TSM top is a definite upgrade. Im not sold on their JG but we will see...

Miror B2 votes

Gonna be a weird split with all the switcheroos that have gone on here (still sorta disappointed that coast did that renovation as I was really looking forward to Shrimp facing off against rush). Out of all the teams, Immortals and C9 by far fascinate me the most. Immortals looks to be like the LA Dodgers of this group, with them basically building an entire team out of top-end free agents, whereas C9 has probably the deepest roster right now with them acquiring rush/bff and having lemon as an analyst now.

Also, you gotta feel bad for TiP kinda. First their mid-laner gets suspended for boosting, then they get reverse-swept in the gauntlet, then they essentially get "harvested" by all the other N/A teams. Would not surprise me if they get relegated this year, should they be unable to acquire at least a decent roster. [zombie-brand-mindblown]

Count Buffon2 votes

If would be hilarious if TiP signed the Team 8 roster.

Do you think C9 is just going to experiment with the roster all season? Supposedly Hai is support now, but who knows? It's a shame that they can't just allow a non-playing dedicated shotcaller to sit at a sixth computer... Too crazy.

p0psicles2 votes

I've always wondered if they will ever switch to that type of format. Coaches in traditional sports get to talk to their players while they are playing but that doesn't happen in eSports. I wonder if they will ever allow a 6th person to spectate the game (with only their own team's vision turned on) and help with strategizing. It would make for a very different experience but it might be kind of cool, you never know.

LordDespoiler1 votes

In CSGO the coaches are actually allowed to talk to their players, and (I think??) in DOTA 2 as well. They basically watch over the player's shoulders and have headsets and can talk to their players.

Miror B1 votes

With all the free agents out there, I'm sorta hoping TiP looks to the challenger series and picks out the gems from there (Shrimp/Mancloud/the bot-lane from that one non-c9t challenger team that didn't make the eulcs could round out their roster quite nicely).

As for C9, them going out and actually acquiring a dedicated support in BFF makes me think they're probably gonna use him and put Hai into some sort of coaching role. While Gate (ironically enough with TiP) did prove that mid-laners can be decent supports, the patches have changed the role in such a way as it might be easier to just have an expert in that role.

iamleburk1 votes

I think you're forgetting TSM. You know you're doing good when Hauntzer is the worst player on your team, I'd call them the deepest roster atm (as much as I hate to say it) TSM specifically out class C9 in the support role and the top role. C9 will inter chance between weak mechanical support with god tier shotcalling and strong mechanical support with mediocre shot calling. But then they have gods in the jungle and in the mid lane.

Immortals, NRG, RNG and Echo Fox all interest me with their rosters. All have potential to be top tier. C9 and TSM we already know will be top of the league, those rosters look amazing, but RNG/NRG/IMT/Echo will probably entirely depend on how their challenger players are moulded in the LCS, with the exception of IMT. I'm going to predict NRG>IMT>Fox>RNG, but that can easily be wrong. The NRG vs IMT matchup specifically is really interesting; If you look at the spread, Top goes even, Jungle goes to IMT, mid lane goes to NRG, ADC to NRG, and Support to NRG. Because of the meta i think a bot carry style will be better, but as you can see i think it will be a very close matchup.

Also, i think Echo should pick up shrimp. If they dont ill be pretty disappointed. But then again, i can't be any less disappointed than when CLG neglected to pick up Froggen. I think CLG and TL will fall a couple of spots this next split, seems like they lost the off season.

Nope, I didn't forget about them. While Hauntzer does add something unusual to TSM, I would not be surprised if they finish in 5th or 6th only because of how good the top teams are. You're also forgetting that C9 somehow got better in the preseason by picking up the best JG in NA, to add to their already deep (korean-like?) roster.

Should note as well, I really don't care which team Shrimp plays for as long as him/rush go at it in at least one game. While him playing on TiP against rush would arguably the best (as it'd be him playing against him on his former team), the actual battle transcends variables and is something I've been wanting to see ever since Coast made it to the NALCS back in september/october.

iamleburk1 votes

I'm not a fan of TSM, but their roster looks absolutely god tier. Like, maybe better than FNC was last split with enough practice together. Hauntzer is a little questionable, but Svenskeren has always been a good in the jungle, Bjergsen has been carrying his team for years, Doublelift ( i think is overhyped) but he's deffinitely no slouch, and then they got probably the best support in the world in Yellowstar. Also, Yellowstar = Hai in terms of shot calling. Those have always been the debate for best shot caller in the West. Yellowstar is one of the best supports in the world, I think he can easily mould this team the way he moulded FNC last split.

Yea NA looks really strong atm, top of the league looks stronger than ever, looks like even the middle of the league can contend with last split's top of the league. The trend in NA atm is god tier players playing along with average or mediocre players. Note that I'm using god tier in terms of NA for this, but most of these players are god tier in a world context as well. Freeze on RNG, GBM/Impact on NRG, Huni/Reignover on IMT, Rush/Incar on C9, Zion/Aphro on CLG, and Piglet/Fenix(?) on TL. TSM is the only roster without any glaring weaknesses, even C9 has Balls to look after. If TSM beat C9, it will be because they focused the top lane. Either way, that will be an exciting match to see. TIP Echo and Dignitas might be a little lack luster, but if every one else in the league raises the standard then their badish rosters will be forced to raise their standards. Anyway, those will be the teams that bring up challenger players and get some new blood into the scene.

Linthe1 votes

{quoted}

Also, Yellowstar = Hai in terms of shot calling.

I think this is the most important thing you wrote. A huge weakness was having Bjerg shot call. Great mid laner. NOT a great shot caller. (And I heard he hated doing as well.)

iamleburk1 votes

Yea having Yellowstar on the roster is 10x better than having Kasing, despite Kasing being better mechanically. He can really pull the team together and handle big personalities like Doublelift.

I hate TSM, I'm literally the opposite of a TSM fan, but to say they will end up 5th or 6th is pure crazy talk. They finish at LEAST 3rd, and that's only if C9 and IMT happen to be a lot better than they look on paper AND TSM underperforms.

AllThatChaz2 votes

Following the rumors over the off-season can be a dangerous game, because yesterday's truth can be today's falsehood. I imagine there will be some introductions once things are solidly in place. Although the way things are going, it seems likely that some teams may be a tad unprepared to start the split. esportspedia is the best source of solid information on roster changes that I've found, but I suppose lurking reddit and twitter might be more effective.

Count Buffon1 votes

Yeah, I followed up with esportspedia or lolpedia or whatever came up first on Google.

I can't believe Nien went (was sent?) packing and is now doing Korean boot camp. He's come so close to A-list so often and I'm always 50-50 on whether he'll pull through in the end. It's a fascinating case.

AllThatChaz1 votes

I think it's probably likely that he was told he'd have to tryout like anyone else. Because so many people need an adc, and more specifically an adc with NA citizenship, I think it's likely he'll find a spot unless he really let his skills go or if he decides he's done.

iamleburk1 votes

Mainly because a lot of players are only rumored so far, and a lot of teams and spots havent been filled. I would suggest you pay attention to NRG and IMT (new coast and new T8)next season, along with Vitality in Europe. They all look really strong, and as if they will have fairly reputable and lasting organizations. Actually if i remember correctly, NRG is owned by an NBA team, so there's going to be a lot of money in NA next season. RNG might also be good to keep an eye on; they have Alex Ich and Freeze, although not much else. Fun fact: Literally half of the orgs from last NA split aren't here anymore. Big investors bought into NA, and smaller orgs like T8, Coast, GV, and TIP couldn't keep up, while NME got relegated.

Gibz2 votes

NRG is actually owned by the partial owners of the Sacramento Kings and Echo Fox is owned by Rick Fox who used to be a professional NBA player for the Lakers. Since the Kings and the Lakers have an NBA rivalry I decided NRG and Echo Fox will be rivals lol

iamleburk1 votes

Lol that would be pretty cool. Although it seems that NRG will be ahead in that regard for this split, I dont know who Echo will pick up but unless its the likes of Froggen or picaboo, I dont see them getting a better lineup than GBM/Impact/Altec.
