The new Incarnati0n

With a new Split comes new stars and new stories. Here is one of the players you should look out for in Summer 2015! Team: Cloud9 Region: North America Position: Mid
"Nicolaj Jensen has established a consistent record of in-game harassment, abuse, and poor behavior. Worse, however, are the violations in Jensen'’s gameplay history. On multiple occasions, he has publicly and unapologetically admitted to engaging in a series of DDoS attacks against high-Elo players. As a result...the player behavior team has issued a lifetime ban on Jensen… All future accounts will be permabanned on sight."
That was the original ruling of Nicolaj "Incarnati0n" Jensen. But next week, Incarnati0n will feature front and center as the new mid laner for one of North America's premier LCS teams, Cloud9. How did Incarnati0n become a model for reform? And how is he planning on restoring glory and dominance to one of the most beloved teams in the world?

Rock bottom

Incarnati0n was once known as Wizikx or Veigodx as part of Team Solo Mebdi, one of the most hyped teams going into the Season 3 LCS Qualifier. Even back then, Incarnati0n was known as a very skilled player. Of course, he was also known for being one of the most toxic. Prior to the team's debut, two players -- including Incarnati0n -- were permanently banned from The Rift, while another was given a year-long suspension. The team would be unable to compete for a spot in the LCS. "The second I found out about the news, it hit me harder than I thought it would. I felt pretty empty and sad." While the ban on one of League's most destructive players was widely celebrated, Incarnati0n became horrified by what he had inflicted upon himself. "It made me realize how much I actually wanted to play League and to compete," Incarnati0n said. "I knew that being toxic was bad, but I just didn't realize at the time how bad it actually was. At that point I immediately figured I had to change and become a better person not just on the Rift, but also in person."

Seeking redemption

Incarnati0n's journey back was not quick, nor easy -- and definitely not glamorous. And it didn't exactly start out on the right foot. "Technically, I wasn't supposed to play the game, but I still did," he said. However, after the original ruling, Riot revised its suspension policy to only ban accounts, and not individuals, so while Incarnati0n's original account was out of the question, the player himself was allowed back in the game. And given his skill level, it wasn't long before Incarnati0n had returned to the upper echelon of high-level play. During this time, his in-game behavior was closely tracked by teams within Riot to see if he was truly on the path to reform. And, over time, his in-game toxicity dropped considerably, and he stopped partaking in behavior that violated the codes he was required to obey. But it took many more months before Incarnati0n's behavior could be considered up to snuff -- the standards that Incarnati0n had to meet were especially high after his indefinite suspension. His last major violation was in Q1 2014, but even before then, Incarnati0n had considerably improved his behavior towards other players. It seemed his desire to become a better person was sincere. As time went on, Incarnati0n became afraid that his skills would deteriorate before he ever got a chance to play. "I asked myself: Had I already spent my peak as a player banned?" Riot Games Esports eventually changed it's permaban policy on the basis that bans should be a basis for reform, not just punishment. This opened the window that Incarnati0n might get a chance to compete. Finally, after over two years, on March 31, 2015, Incarnati0n was unbanned; he'd have a chance to play in the LCS. "When the announcement came that I was finally eligible to play competitive, I was very happy," he said. "If it wouldn't have been this Split, I very likely would have been done playing League of Legends, despite my love for it."

Another chance

A stir in the community started soon after, speculating about which team would take a gamble on Incarnati0n, and where he would want to go. After all, his journey back to eligibility was just the first part. Now he had to meet the expectations that fans had placed on his shoulders. While being suspended from the LCS, Incarnati0n had achieved Rank 1 on the EUW server for extended periods of time, and his mechanical plays became the subject of a multitude of YouTube highlight reels. Because of his mechanical prowess and mid lane dominance, Cloud9 became interested in Incarnati0n and decided to try him out, following the retirement of former mid laner Hai "Hai" Lam. After finding his way to his own cloud nine, meeting expectations in the LCS won't be easy.

Believe the hype

"Our team is becoming better as every day passes. It started out a bit difficult as I'm used to playing the game in a different manner," Incarnati0n said. Despite the hype for Incarnati0n, he truly believes he will live up to expectations. "I would say that I'm a top player," Incarnati0n said. "However, at this point in time, there are still aspects of my game I can improve. Something that'll come by working with my teammates and support staff." For long-time fans of Cloud9, Incarnati0n thinks that glory is on the horizon. "You have to believe that you can beat anyone in order to effectively execute a cutthroat playstyle in and out of lane," he said. "If everything goes well and I stay in the learning curve I'm currently in, I'm confident I have the capacities to be one of the best mid laners in the world by the end of the year." You know, I really hope all this is true, and that Jensen is really changed and reformed, but deep down, C9 will never be quite the same to me as it was with hai.

Say what you want about incarnati0n... Yes, he looks evil (Think young Emperor Palpatine) but, so what? He's incredibly talented! And this is exactly what C9 needs to give them the best chance to win worlds.

I understand a lot of you are upset about Hai leaving, but do not stop supporting C9 because of this! Hai still supports C9 as should you!!

Lastly, upvote this if you're as excited as I am for upcoming LCS! I can not wait to see the new C9!

Doesn't really matter how he looks as long as he plays well and there's synergy with the team. Look at Edward for example, his boobs are bigger than 50% of the women I know but he is a nice player and person.

Bullshit. How often do you reverse regular players bans? Yet this guy admits to cheating and being a dick, and you allow him to continue to play. Oh I know why, $$$$$$$.

To me he looks like Jim Parsons lol.

I'm looking forward to see the new Cloud 9 roster. I am sad to see Hai go, of course, but that can't be helped. I think with Incarnati0n as a replacement, Cloud 9 will achieve great things this split! C9 Fan For Life!

Meh, they may say he is "changed" but I will never be a fan of his. I don't think you can trust someone who has done bad things a mere 2 years ago. People such as rapists (and yes, I know, he was not even close to as bad as a rapist but it is the same kind of thing) may never get jobs again and yet this guy gets to play in the LCS. smh

Even though Hai was my favorite LCS player I do believe Incarnation is a good pick for C9. If anyone could of replaced Hai it was him. Though I will always miss you buddy

That guy used to play other games, like WoW arena, he was a DDoSing/Wintrading pos there too. I literally have no clue what the fuck C9 is thinking picking someone like him up. If he could justify being a complete dirtbag while playing games for fun, what the hell makes them think he won't when there's cold hard cash at the end of the line.

Sure gave me an interest in there team for a time, to see how fast he gets booted or banned from the LCS again.

im quiet sure i played with one of this guys acc's (incarnation v2) .... and he was toxic as hell i mean like realy toxic first splitt i wanna see c9 lose rly hard (not that i care much about na lcs anyways)

Wickedfates5/22/2015, 2:27:36 PM2 votes

Ha!

man, people were writing about how riot would be putting out the reformation interview..... didnt take long did it

we allow negative behavior to continue if we allow riot to think it is acceptable to bring back the worse people over and over again and give them pedestals to stand on

Incarnati0n's journey back was not quick, nor easy -- and definitely not glamorous. And it didn't exactly start out on the right foot. "Technically, I wasn't supposed to play the game, but I still did," he said.

ya... reformed... he broke the rules to show he was reformed....

Cloud 9 giving the official release of Incarnati0n to Richard Lewis made me a huge C9 fan.

Well I hope he is worth the ban lift. Hai may have not been the best mid laner but when Cloud 9 were clicking they were unstoppable. It also just sucks to see the one of the few all American team have to grab an import. They were competitive even without going out and getting Korean or LPL players, and now they pull a TSM and go grab a european mid laner. I guess we will see how well he clicks with Cloud 9 soon enough. C9 will always be my favorite team and Hai will always be my favorite Mid laner!!!

C9 world champs 2015 (the Dream)

i like how everyone is complaining that one of the last "all NA teams" is grabbing an "import". like whats wrong with you people, hes a player not a commodity, and if he's still toxic he'll be out of the LCS by next year.

And of course he is Danish <3 ;) Wish C9 and Incarnati0n the best luck in the world.
