What happened to Doublelift?

So I know I'm really late, but i don't follow LCS that much but im interested in what happened. I know DL left TSM but did he rejoin it or did he go to another team?

He took a break when he left tsm, became a full time streamer for a few months, then joined TL for summer split, and is now back on TSM and choked worlds once again in groups. Bam you're all caught up

He should just stream, unless he wants to keep choking at Worlds.

The problem though is that streaming won't exactly fix his reputation, which is something that he looks to care massively about. If he quote on quote "retires" now and becomes a streamer, he'll still be known as a top-tier NA adc who couldn't win a quarterfinal and couldn't carry his teams when they absolutely needed it. It's one of the reasons why I entirely expect bjerg/DL to continue being on LCS teams long after guys like jensen/meteos/sneakers (all of whom have solidified themselves as top-tier NA talents) have left.

The big problem was this Worlds was a huge primetime chance to shake that. The ADC meta was strong, the "Group of Life" where on paper no team looked like a runaway dominator and any team could have ended as #1, Biofrost no longer a rookie...I'm not sure anything could have been better for DLift to step up. He didn't. He looked as bad as Cody Sun, each making poor mistakes but Lift isn't a rookie like Cody. I doubt Lift will ever evolve to be able to dominate as a poke or utility adc, and odds are against seeing another hypercarry meta as strong as this last patch for another couple years. So what can he really prove at this point? Power to him if he tries, but it's time to swallow a huge dose of humility and stop talking trash on anyone else and just focus on improving himself if he ever wants to build any better legacy.

You speak the true-true! The whole "Everyone else is trash" is really just a funny quote and poking fun, etc but overall, just makes him look childish and stupid. You can also tell his behavior is also a huge distraction to the team on getting better, opposed to thinking you're already the best when in doubt, you're not.

I also agree with the "ADC meta" Worlds was the best chance for Hyper Carry D-Lift to step up and who actually stepped up instead, passive support like ADC Sneaky instead. If that's not a slap in the face IDK WHAT IS!

See, that'd be true if we were talking about someone who didn't have a gigantic ego to try and prove. The fact it is him though kinda makes me think that he'll either stay around until he accomplishes it (in an attempt to try and make his 'escape groups record' at something other than 0%). I do agree though that this past year was his best chance to do so, if only because he had the easiest route. The 5 best botlanes at worlds were outside his group, the two most influential roles were in his lane (ardent meta), and the sheer amount of threats in other lanes meant that there was always an "s-tier pick" available to him. While retiring may seem like a smart idea to any normal person, I could see him sticking around for at least 2-3 more splits if only to make his image NA's Tom Brady as opposed to NA's Dan Marino.

"Long after guys like Jensen......." I don't think Jensen will retire, leave etc before Bjergsen/D-Lift. I get what you mean tho and I agree, if Jensen retires now in his career, he would be considered the MID that got further than the quote on quote "Western Faker" multiple times when it mattered.
