Is there anyone who can rival SKT?

I know by watching MSI no one in the European or NA can come close to them, but I am hoping that a team like OMG or Samsung can take them down and breath some new air in Worlds. Who do you think can give SKT a fight for their lives?

Funny you think Samsung taking SKT down in Worlds would breath in new air -- they were the season 4 champions afterall.

But in all seriousness, in best of series tournament, only KT and Samsung are capable of taking SKT down this season. I honestly can't think of any scenario in which SKT would go down to non-LCK region team.

SKT vs KT in their first matchup in Spring '17 was by far the best of three series I have watched in the short history of LoL bar none -- so there's potential while the second matchup and Spring Finals weren't so close.

I personally don't think any team can really beat SKT.

SAMSUNG GALAXY Good team and did take SKT to 5 games at Worlds last year but we've seen it before where a young up and coming team(ROX) get beat the first time and like a fairy tale everyone expects there to be a "passing of the torch" the second time the same two teams face but didn't happen in the 2016 Worlds either.
ROX even built a team for 2 years with 1 goal ( To beat SKT at Worlds) and lost both times. Not to mention both SKT and SSG were around 31 mins in both Korea and Worlds, SSG had around 25-26 mins in the tournament to get to Worlds that they either won or lost in pre 30, as well as for X amount of years everyone was sick of the Worlds finals being a slaughter to declare the Winner and 2016. So, 2016 Finals SKT were up 2-0 against SSG and magically lost the next two games in a 72 min game and in a 46 min game in which they looked like it was solo Q or something and not the SKT that they actually were.
Point is I 100% believed it would have been an easy 3-0 but SKT wanted to give the fans something to watch sense some were tired of seeing SKT win atleast they can say (they almost got beat by another team).

KT ROLSTER A team that got built with superstars to beat SKT, hmmmmm, haven't seen this before! RNG got beat by SKT multiple times in 2016 and defeated them twice at both MSI and Worlds but to be fair those games were exciting to say the least. Point is ROX Tigers built a team very similar to how KT are currently developing but it just won't happen. SMEB - Remember when people were saying SMEB > Faker ? Smeb might have been good for X splits but Faker has been good for years and has been the stable of the pro scene in League, not to mention Smeb can be the best player on his team but he can't play Top and Mid; someone else on his team needs to first beat Faker in lane, while trying to fight 4 other players that are all equally good as Faker because of the system that SKT are in ( 1 for all and all for 1/ Anyone can carry any given night/ all can and are willing to take a back seat for another to WIN). PAWN - Injuries, inconsistent at times. He was called the Anti or Rival to Faker when Faker pretty much had an aging and tarnished team( Impact/Piglet/PMD-PooXXX something forgot his name SORRY!) You just never know what type of Pawn you will get on your team. DEFT/MATA- I love Mata and his shotcalling but it's still 50/50 in botlane you can have a GREAT ADC/SUP but it's still half n half not 100% ( 2011-2014 CLG) and I personally have 0 faith in DEFT, I think he's good but over hyped( get the pitchforks and fire ready!) not bashing the dude either as DEFT > ME but I think he's all hype and no results.

And those are the two top teams that have the ability to beat SKT and it's not even close.

LPL teams are good and are getting 10X better each year but the bar is still so far away Earth to Pluto bar, they play fast and hard but at times it's too damn fast for their own good.

NA - What was it back in 2014 3-1 vs SSW and that 1 game was the first win for like 5 years or something for NA vs a Korean team, NA has beaten a Korean team like 4-5 games in a 7 year period. EU - Are pretty much the same as NA but a tiny bit better in my opinion but it's still laughable especially since G2 are the constant representatives for EU and .....

That's what SKT are against not to mention what they do HAVE on their side, the best player, the best coach, the best mentality to win instead of KDA, a group/team that has had years of playing with each other(BANG and WOLF) were on SKT's sister team for like 2 years so they built a bench.

long story short - SK Telecom T1 will and always will win, HOWEVER if I had to say what team can rival SKT and possibly defeat them at Worlds

  1. SSG- Team that has stuck together, experience is never bad on a team.
  2. RNG- UZI(best ADC in my opinion) has a history of meeting up with the potential winners but team needs to step up
  3. EDG- Fading fast but has SO much talent
  4. WE- Very similar to RNG(2016) butt loads of talent but needs to play better as a team.
  5. KT- False hope in my opinion but still has a good core of players.

I think FW has a chance, for some reason faker's iq drops by 100 when he plays against them. Perhaps F(aker's) W(eakness) is indeed living up to its name.

The sad thing is FW loses to pretty much every other team so there's no way they'd stand out. Best case scenario is have FW take out SKT during elimination stage then other teams profit.

Noone tbh. Even if SKT would use their subs, they would still beat any other region and team. They simply outclass everyone right now.

this is kinda off topic but I never knew Huni played Fiora

No one can in there current form. Samsung has some majors problems they have to fix if they want to face skt in a best of 5. The problem is that there is only 1 team currently I see with the firepower to beat skt, but there macro is a joke. MVP I would say has the second best macro in the LCK, but they have no firepower.I mean in the playoffs MVP played better as a team than KT, but KT beat them using shear player talent. If KT can learn how to play after the early game ends they may stand a chance.

Well if anyone can, it will probably have to come from Korea. or some team from somewhere else is going to have to be very much different than it is now.

I think only asian regions can try.

Any other region, no. NA and EU are an embarrassment.

FW at least took a game off of them.

FW is well known to be SKT's kryptonite. If anyone could beat them in a best of 5, it's them. They've been a solid team for years now and have consistently defeated SKT compared to other teams. It's a shame we may not see it though, FW struggles vs other teams in international games. It'd be a damn good battle though. Seeing Maple vs Faker and Karsa vs Peanut is always a treat.

Actually you are wrong. FW seems to be SKT's kryptonite. UOL playstyle at it's best is similar to FW and would likely have a good chance to produce similar results vs skt. Unpredictability and snowball potential early combined with solid macro and mid/late game teamfighting. Note i said AT IT'S BEST. UOL doesn't always play that well, but when they do play their best, their style is just the type needed to bring down a team like skt. Here's hoping UOL makes worlds finally.

Worlds semis
3 Korean teams and whatever crap team gets a lucky draw with no Korean teams faced until the Semis.
