The scrappiest battle in League is about to take place in the EU Promotion tournament!

With the 2016 EU Challenger Series and EU LCS Spring Splits coming to a close, it's time for the spotlight to shift to next season's rising stars. The best teams in Challenger have one final boss to face before securing a spot in the LCS, while existing LCS teams need to prove they belong with the best. Five teams in total will be thrown into the ring -- the three lowest ranked EU LCS teams and the two highest ranked teams from EU Challenger --  but only three will earn their spot in the 2016 EU LCS Summer Split.

Schedule

The EU Promotion tournament consists of four separate Best of 5 matches. Here's the schedule:

ROUND DATE GAME TIME (CET) MATCHUPS WINNER
Day 1 March 24 17:00 Match A (Giants Gaming vs. Copenhagen Wolves) Giants Gaming
Day 2 March 26 14:00 Match B (Splyce vs. Giants Gaming) Splyce
Day 2 March 26 19:00* Match C (ROCCAT vs. Huma) ROCCAT
Day 3 March 27 17:00 (CEST) Match D (Giants Gaming vs. Huma) Giants Gaming

The winners of Match B, Match C, and Match D will qualify for the 2016 EU LCS Summer Split.

Riot you dropped the ball hard here - maybe spending too much time worrying about 'over paying casters' has caused you to fail to promote a promotion tournament. Disappointing on all levels. IEM was the same.

Your marketing department needs to focus on the streams and accessibility to the content vs. ads for more plushie Teemo's...

I am sure it was an over sight but please, make sure you get this right during the NA tournament - or hire an adult over there.... missing out on marketing exposure and even revenue (as I would gladly click on an ad to know I get to watch the analysts desk and all of the content not just the matches I find somewhere on Youtube). You guys are missing it - the Pro play is a MUCH, much better way to grow the brand and the game. Not sales on skins (although i need a Bard skin so feel free to still have the sales..)

;)

seriously why has this not had any publicity? terrible riot

promotion/relegation is one of the best part about this sport. It seams like there is less space between the pros and ppl who want to be pro and keeps teams that don't belong from just festering there like the browns, or jags in the NFL. Having the possibility of having new teams every split should be exciting... but it's seams most of riot would rather use the promo tourney as a weak off >:( not cool man.

While I'm here complaining, I should mention that I really, really, really hate that there is no hide spoilers button anymore. if I miss the games I wanted to see I have to search for them on youtube (usually from another source) in order to avoid seeing who won or lost before I see the game. Why would ppl be interested in watching a game that they know the end to? It started around the time fantasy was enabled, so I guess that has something to do with it... but that's dumb if I don't want it spoiled by fantasy I can just not check my team until after I catch up; if I had a team; which I don't because my friends bailed and there is no way to join a random league, unlike any other fantasy sport.

Please stop fussing about news pieces and behinds the scenes stuff, pro interviews and neat graphics and fix your content availability. It can't be that hard... really I don't think that you need to can that stuff, but making it possible to play fantasy league without filling the whole league yourself, and getting the "hide spoilers" button back should be the priority.

I mostly just watch still because I've found myself bound up in c9 fandom. I honestly thought I just liked good teams until c9 was bad and I was still locked in the chains of fandom.

the disappearance of the "hide spoilers" button has almost made me stop watching at all a couple times and frankly if c9 crumbles into oblivion you've probs lost me. it's just not worth the hassle.

Can't seem to find VODs for this anywhere... are you guys not planning to post them?

I see the graphic was updated for progress and then... not updated to the current progress... :P

Kinjishi3/27/2016, 6:50:41 PM2 votes

Would be nice if the winners in the graphic were made more noticeable, such as winners have a red circle and losers have a gray circle. Also, why wasn't the 03/27 match even updated? Promotion tourney not important?

AtrumX3/28/2016, 8:56:25 PM1 votes

So, I enjoyed the matches... but the graphic in this article is just wrong. It shows Giants won Match B (they lost) It then shows Giants AND Huma as 'Loser' for Match D.

Since Giants Gaming beat both Huma and Copenhaggen Wolves, guess that's as decisive evidence that they deserve to still be in the LCS, since they beat both the Challenger teams. I'm excited to see what they can do next split, since they're playing much better with this lineup, imagine what they might do once they get some work in together. Vamos Gigantes!

Did you guys all go on Spring Break? Where the hell are the VODs for this? This is arguably much more important than the actual LCS playoffs, and yet I didn't even realize until TODAY that it was even happening.
