There’s a new athletics team coming to Keuka College in Upstate New York, but its members won’t be playing on a turf field or inside a gym. Instead, for the first time in Division III intercollegiate athletic history, varsity-level online video gaming—or eSports—will arrive at Keuka College in early 2016. Competing in the virtual world of “League of Legends,” (LoL) the team will be backed by a full-time coach, attend regular practice sessions, and represent the Green & Gold in matches, and championship tournaments. Seems great! A few questions I have are:

What rank (elo/MMR) is required to join the team?
Are League scholarships available?(If so what are they or where can I find information on them)
What is "Division 3"?
I own a pc capable of running LoL, but it is not portable, will I need to purchase a mobile laptop for different areas where the team practices or will there be a set area where team practices where I can leave my pc OR will gaming pc's/laptops be provided?

We haven't made a firm decision yet on required rank. I will say that although we value talent, we'd take a cooperative bronze player over a highly-ranked player who has a bad attitude. The ability to play as a team is the most important aspect to us.
We are not currently offering League scholarships. However, the college itself offers many scholarships. We actually assist more than 98% of our students with the cost of their college education.
Division 3 (or DIII) is a division of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The division consists of colleges and universities that choose not to offer athletic scholarships to student-athletes. This label denotes which teams we play against, how we are ranked, etc.
Gaming PCs will be provided through the program-- you won't be required to invest any of your own money in the equipment. We are in the process of ordering some fantastic equipment including gaming chairs, desks, headsets, and of course, the PCs.

Everything seems solid, I'll probably enroll once I graduate High school, but being a junior I won't be able to enroll until 2017, see you then!
