Immortals seem to be Immortal

Now to start off, I am pretty new to the league community, I joined mid-way through season 5, but really started playing around late season five. At that time, Worlds was going on, and I am probably the only person that put Cloud 9 at the top of their group. I don't know why but that was the team that I wanted to win, and when I found out that they were underdogs and they won their first games against teams like Fnatic, I was so happy. I started to watch highlights of past games or full games entirely including player montages, etc. this is how I found out about TSM’s adc WildTurtle (and TSM in general). When I found out that he was removed from the roster, I was really sad, but when I saw the his new team, Immortals, I was immediately ecstatic, he was on a team of great players like Huni, Reignover, and Pobelter, I knew that team was gonna do well (Adrian was kinda unknown to me at this time, but he is right now my second favorite player on the team behind WildTutle). So I went into the LCS season with an open mind, I would root for my favorite Cloud 9, but also watch the Immortals games, because I liked WildTurtle and the team seemed good. Eventually something came clear to me, Immortals was not gonna lose a game (if they did at this moment I might bring out the fireworks, or at least settle for a victory jig). Every time I started to watch an Immortals game, I had a sense of boredom or dread or some mix of the two. I knew they would win, there was no surprise, no real competition or close game, no excitement. That is the big one. THERE WAS NO EXCITEMENT. Watching this juggernaut of a team plow through the NA scene destroying everything in its path got stale and old and instead of a nail bitingly close game, I found myself watching a slaughter. What really made me write this is the most recent Immortals vs Cloud 9 game. Immortals got first blood and slowly but surely picked apart Cloud 9 till they won. There was no action. All I saw was my favorite team scrambling for the smallest bit of a victory they could find. They became disjointed, seemed to lose morale over and over as they were defeated. When WildTurtle went balls to the wall and jumped into a 4 vs 1 and survived by the skin of his teeth, I felt like Immortals was dangling a juicy bit of meet over starving animals. I started the stream mid-way through, so I rewound to the beginning where I was so excited to see Jhin being played by Sneaky, because it was the first time we had seen the new champ in pro play (or at least NA LCS cause I don’t pay attention to the others). That was the only bit of joy I found in watching this game and I ended up just skipping to the end to find that surprise, surprise, Immortals had won.

Now I turn to you, what do you guys think about all this? Do you completely disagree or do you find truth in my words. I want to know. Also how do you think Immortals will do in international play? And do you think they will be defeated in the NA LCS?

What are your thoughts?

Peace.

P.S I know I may seem a bit hypocritical as Cloud 9 has the longest win streak in the NA LCS of 13 wins, but that was before I started even playing the game. Plus Immortals is reaching that number fast.

Learn to format, please. Their are at least 3 paragraphs of topics in that block. Usually one thought/ idea per paragraph, expanding that idea. New thoughts mean new paragraphs.

C9 got their recorded when their were only 8 team though. So the record is a tad more impressive than it seems. C9 won more games as rematches than the immortals will, when the number 13 hits. Strength of schedule also has to be looked at. It would not be as impressive for immortals if the next 3 games were against the bottom 3 of the league.

If you are going to compare immortals to anything you have to look to 2015 fanatic. Were they did their whole summer season flawless and only dropped a few in the regional finals.

Now if you want to talk about a recorded huni has not loss a game in regular league play in a very long time. though he has lost in tournaments (best of) formats. It is still quite a record if you think about his regional dominance.

Well, they have to make it through play-offs first. They are doing really well, but they show weaknesses. They are coming out of some of these games by slight margins in these chaotic fights, tbh. Some of their games have been on a knife's edge. Hell, TSM had them minus a baron throw.

Really, the real test will be when bo5s happen in play-offs. Seemingly unbeatable regular season teams drop games in BOseries.

Well Immortals looks good right now because NA is very weak. There are things that NA simply doesn't have that other regions do.

For example look at that Cloud9 game a little bit closer and realize that while yes they are very even in kills they are down significantly in gold. NA teams don't have a grasp of Macro play, or how to play the map to get objectives. Immortals are punishing this that's how they got the lead on C9 they did in what appeared to be an even game. Also NA for the most part doesn't have strong individual lanes which is allowing Immortals to have their way with most NA teams.

Personally International play is going to be a big wake up call for them if they get comfortable beating NA teams. Other regions have teams that are capable of laming very well against IMT while also have a better macro game. I mean surprises have happened in the past from NA teams like TSM winning the Intel tournament. But I don't know if the same will happen for IMT, I don't think they will get taken so lightly in international competition.

C9 was behind in gold all game and yet was winning team fights still until Wildturtle got lucky with a dead Lux binding and got his triple kill. It fell apart after that. What's important to note from this game is two things:

  1. The rest of the NA needs to work on their macro play, like, a lot.
  2. Immortals aren't the mechanical gods they've be portrayed as and can be beaten in straight fights. Their macro play is what's winning them games right now.

C9 being my favorite team, I can say that I saw the loss coming. C9 is not the best team in best of one rounds. They excel in best 5 because they change things up drastically

Are immortals unbeatable? Hell no! They are good because pobeltor can hold his own while Wild Turtle and Huni do well. In a meta where ADC are so vital, this works. Wait till you see when top lane stabilizes and their glaring problem starts to show

Through, it definitely seems like they will land first spot. I think only TSM and C9 can take wins from them, c9 alrdy lost so it's only TSM left

i honestly think they have not had much competition thus far in the grand scheme of things so i do question there ability to fight a team that understands there macro and micro.

on top of that they've come close to losing 2, 3 times now? they haven't granted but close i think against a more organised, oiled team they will fall, maybe even later this split or early next split when teams should of gelled together, while teams progress i think IMT will stand still in comparison

The problem with IMT is that they have no tactics or strategy beyond unrestrained aggression. Much like Fnatic, this will work great against teams that try to play more safely like most do in LCS, but like Fnatic they will get utterly dismantled by Koreans with better game sense and discipline who can punish over aggression mercilessly.

IMT is is made up of Korean players.

I have yet to see NA born players to actually play good. I mean real NA players, not foreign immigrants.

IMT vs C9 was one of the best games out there And you just called it boring. If C9 were to win any team fights (which they could've have), like when Turtle got a 1v3 kill (since he was the only one left alive), before that C9 Adc could've flashed away from Lux laser and get an Ace for themselves and a bunch of gold.

Most team fights were close and if anyone in C9 were to outplay. They could've won. Ofc, they didn't but that's that. They had a chance, one of the best ones so far and failed. But it was still a great game, it was exciting because at any time, C9 could've win a team fight and hard win the game.

You're obviously biased since your favorite team lost. So, ofc it looks "boring" to see what you like lose. But this was anything but boring. Darn it, last year people in NA were cheering for players killing WARDS. Games had 20 minutes of farm fest and then maybe something interesting happened. That was boredom, when you get "excited" a pink ward was destroyed........ since there's nothing better on the entire map to 'watch'.
