Because it looks like they didn't even show up in the finals in MSI 2019. Not taking anything away from G2 they deserve this and congratz, but we all just thought it was going to be a competitive match after the performance they gave vs IG.

Also, TL were playing with the pressure off, would anyone blame them if they lost to the world champions? Some characters thrive in low expectation environment, while others need to be pushed to perform.

TBH DL and CoreJJ were the big reason they showed up vs IG, they had great teamfight control and doublelift's dps was important to their success
Mickyx was extremely dominant in the 3 games though and Jankos had much better rotations than Xmithie. The jg/sup pressure was insane and DL pretty much ended up on carries with weak early in all the games, they just assumed they'd survive early I guess. They really underrated the enemy support is what my read on those games were.

Fuhrer Usagi3 votesAdd onto this. I am not a good player, I am silver atm. But even I noticed TL was doing stupid things. The first game Corejj stood in a bush with in coming 4+ G2 players alone and did not move until right when they got their and proceeded to waste a flash? Why was he there? To lick one of them once...He didn't even have klepto to make it a minor gain.
Corejj in that same game proceeded to position aggro(with the enemy minions to his back) when he had no flash and 2 of the enemy team had TP, he also face checked a bush when he was obviously behind and got killed.
DL was useless, he kept going off splitting during the time they should of been defending mid and he was missing all his shots or just no shooting anyone to try to make it an even trade.
Second game was worse. They won several team fights only for one of them to run off alone chasing the last members of G2 and face check bushes alone leading to it getting turned around. They also didn't grab any hard merc shoes or hard CC champions meaning they didn't learn from the first match.
Essentially TL choked and played terribly. They most likely didn't expect to make it this far and thought it would be an easy sweep but saw G2 beat them in the first few minutes and pretty much gave up.
Saezio2 votesI blame coaching staff too, for games 2 and 3 obviously. TL didn't change it up at all. They never surprised us, maybe a zilean mid, maybe a splitting toplaner, maybe a cait for Dlift to be abit of a bully in the bot?
IDK I expect a cornered team to play their Ace up their sleeve, but NA came on tank tops. (it's even stranger because they didn't reveal any surprising picks throughout the tournament)

MakJuice1 votesGame one they had a few bad decisions that was a small snowball that G2 never let go of and secured the victory.
Game two was a dog-fight imo, close game both ways, and I think TL should have won this one but again, a few hiccups = gg
Game three I think was an avalanche of games 1 and 2. Games 1 they got outplayed. Game 2 they knew they should have won, I think they just lost their juice to play while G2 smelt blood and ended it.
Saezio2 votesGame 2 was a stomp, TL got 3 towers, were dove for the last teamfight at 27 mins under their inhibitor tower and lost the fight 5-0. Nowhere near a dogfight, G2 just overstayed and did soloq stuff at that bot tower dive (jankos recalling in a warded bush in the enemy's jungler, rest greeding for plates) and Impact and Jensen got some kills for TL. They never got even a 3k gold lead I don't think. And they never became proactive.
TL did wonderful in the tournament and deserve big praise for that. But it's always hard for a team to win their first international final. International success usually takes time to build because it depends on mentality, organisation etc too not only talent. FNC and G2 have been getting better at it TL are new to worlds experience (and let's not forget they changed roster recently + they don't have the best teams around them in NA to push them higher) Great job to TL for getting to finals knocking out THE WORLD CHAMPIONS AND TOURN FAVORITES in the way.
GForce9x1 votesIt was rather disappointing considering how intense both semi-final matches were.
G2 essentially did to TL what TL did to IG - shut down their win condition. TL knew that IG's win condition was through mid so they put their focus on trying to shut down Rookie or at least keeping him contained. TL's win condition is primarily through bot lane (not that Jensen isn't capable of carrying, but TL has a hard time winning games when DoubleLift is a non-factor), so G2 focused them hard.
HeeroTX1 votesI agree with this. In the end, looking at bans, TL targeted Caps (for good reason) and G2 targeted CoreJJ. (Basically BOTH teams targeted the best player on the other team) The general "net" effect being TL contained 1 guy for two games (they let Caps get Sylas in Game 2 trying to keep Rakan from Mikyx, and gg) and G2 contained 2 guys (since if they mash down CoreJJ, then DL can't really do much either, which isn't to say DL played well, just mathematically it works out better for G2).
I think this META just works really well for G2's lineup since Caps clearly likes to play an aggressive style.

I think what bit liquid was Impact and maybe even Jensen's Champ pools. I think G2 with caps wunder and perkz was fine banning out CoreJJ because the more "OP" champs left open they had 3 people to jump on them while TL only had Jensen.
So, if akali irelia sylas were all open, tl with 2nd and 3rd pick couldnt go like "IMPACT get AKALI Jens go for the irelia and we are fine giving caps sylas" so they were on the back foot from the draft.
Pocket picks like Jens Zilean is what I wanted to see, maybe a rumble from Impact, you know play their strenghts
