Zirene's NA LCS Lane Preview
Start of Season

Maokai, Poppy, and Nautilus are all considered "low-econ" tanks, and the pros think we'll be seeing plenty of them in the NA LCS. For these low-econ tanks, it's not necessary to receive resources from their team in order to have a huge impact on the game. With shields and heals that are based off of their own % HP, they also get more effective combat stats out of every health item they purchase and are therefore even tankier than most tanks.

Poppy
Nautilus
Maokai
They've also got...
- Easy to use crowd control abilities
- High base damage abilities
- Capacity to easily assist a jungler with ganks
- Slows on low cooldowns
- Impactful team fighting

Despite not falling into the low-econ tank category, Camille brings a wide array of strengths to the top lane. Not only does she deal an enormous amount of true damage, but her kit is also loaded with utility, equipped with multiple ways to use her abilities to catch her opponents off-guard.

Junglers have generally been folks who run around the Rift helping their team. This year, it's different. Now, if a team wants to stay ahead, they're going to have to help their jungler out.
Mid lane's the most important lane in terms of where the minion waves are during the early/mid game. Putting pressure on opponents by manipulating minion waves opens up a plethora of options available to whichever mid laner has priority. Control Mages like Cassiopeia, Viktor, Ryze, Orianna, Taliyah, and Syndra create pressure without the same amount of risk that assassins like Katarina or Fizz would face.
With pressure a mid laner can...
- Go for turret damage
- Keep the enemy under turret
- Roam to side lanes to gain advantages elsewhere on the map
- Assist their jungler in securing enemy camps
- Protect their own camps
- Secure vision around the lane

ADCs are usually a priority target, so they want to be as far away as possible from a fight while still contributing. That's why we're seeing pro play favor ADCs with utility and a long effective range.

Supports are more equipped than ever to help out their teams. With the addition of new items like Redemption and changes to others like Locket of the Iron Solari, supports now have to keep track of — and use — their items more effectively to keep their teams alive.
Redemption by the Numbers
Redemption's a cheap (2,100 gold) item with an immense impact. Its health and cooldown reduction stats are ones that every support desires.
