Pause Function Abuse in WOrld Championshit Tournament Games

BETA WARNING (For some reason I can't fix my title in the edit function. . .yeah, you guys at Riot should probably fix that haha. . .The title should be: "Pause Function Abuse in World Championship Tournament Games". . . .also for some reason I can't embed you tube videos. . .)

This has been on my mind since the first time this function was abused in the first OMG vs SKT match. The pause function was used right when the person using the function was caught off guard and close to being killed. My first initial thoughts were "wtf this guy is obviously doing this on purpose"

Because of this the fight was possibly altered from its current course to a different outcome.

The second OMG vs SKT match, It happened again, (faker vs cool) in the same type of situation.

This is outrageous. . .truly, truly, outrageous.

Riot needs to have a rioter to actually approve the pauses;

Basically, when a player presses the pause button, the game does NOT pause until a rioter approves of it (basically they can just press a button to enact the pause)

The Rioters will have an outline of when it's OK to pause a game after a player has recommended it.

Such as:

If the player is in: a middle of a fight, or teamfight = no pause permitted until after the fight/play has finished.

Seriously OMG has a reputation of doing this in China's leagues as well. It's lame and disgusting.

Frankly this is Cheating and it should be rectified before the next games at worlds. . .meaning FAST.

Please fix this glaring issue in game fairness.

Anyone else think it's interesting that there are so many pauses in pro games from devices failing? I don't know about you, but in my nearly 3 years of playing LoL I've never had the need for a pause because of a mouse/keyboard/headset not working. If anything it makes me sure not to buy anything League sponsored with all the problems they have with it.

yeah, I agree. It does make sense that if you start a fight and notice immediately your mouse settings aren't ideal, you want to fix it fast, but there should at lest be a 5 second delay before the pause (or longer) to prevent abuse. That first SKT OMG game, lee got caught and immediately paused and their support immediately walked over for lee's safeguard out after the pause. That's pretty unfair, even if the pause was legit.

Yeah.

But no.

Your "solution" seems to create more problems. I mean, if a player's mouse stops working after the laning phase and the enemy sees this as a player out of position and engage, by the time riot "approves" the pause, the guy is already dead and the dynamic of the game is already changed.

I can somewhat agree with you on this, but at the same time I think there should also be failsafes. For example if someone gets disconnected or their mouse becomes unplugged-something around those lines, then the game should be automatically paused.

Trust when I say that the pros wouldn't pause unnecessarily without a good reason, because I believe they get heavily punished for falsely pausing the game. You can look it up in the LCS rule-book if you'd like.

In the Event of a game being paused it has to be notified by the ref. The Ref has the final call on the pausing in the gamez. Also not everything will work fine during the game. They may have high tech gear and stuff but it will not make up the factor on what is happening. If the team pauses without notifying the refs their will be punishments for them in the next game, or current. Also this is the championship I think they have to report gear messing up because I don't think they want to lose due to gear messing up.

Also read the rules in the e sports page.

How about some soundproof booths while they're at it.

I agree, was disgusted as well watching them abuse that functionality. If this kind of rule is enforced, players will make sure their equipment is functional before play begins and before any team fight happens. No more BS pauses in the middle of combos.

Whether the pausing is done to gain advantage or not, that is up to the professionalism of each player. They have to have reason for pausing whether it is legit one or lame one. However pausing a game during a fight does break the flow of the battle where fraction of the second decision could change the outcome of the whole game.

These guys are pros. They should be maintaining or replacing their equipment regularly if anything is not working optimally. And most of these guys have hardware sponsors too. If their mouse breaks down right before the fight or during the fight, tough luck. Stop using that brand of mouse and get something else.

Players should not be able to pause but only the Riot officials and not during a fight but only before or after. If computer freezes or something obvious, then Riot officials can pause. If not so obvious, then the players can REQUEST a pause during non combat situation. Just apply such rule to every team and games will go smoother and no accusation for abuse will fly around.

I approve this, that kind of pause is like a child-play level.

And to the comment below, mouse broke in very start of team fight? How coincident.

Yeah i somewhat agree with this post but there shouldn't really be any malfunctions on teh equipment. You dont see pauses on other games MMOS/MOBAS.... (AS often)
