With a new season comes new stars and new stories. Here is one of the players you should look out for in 2015!
Team: ROCCAT
Region: Europe
Position: AD carry
[Editor's note: We had originally stated that Forg1ven had been banned from competitive play. This was not the case. We apologize for the mistake and have updated the article to reflect the facts.]
Woolite was never really given a chance to shine. When he took over the starting AD carry role on Copenhagen Wolves, the team was reeling from talented AD carry Forg1ven’s departure from the squad. As a result of the shake-up, the Wolves’ 2014 Summer Split play lacked a cohesive identity, and they finished tied for last with an 8-20 record.
Despite his team’s struggles, however, Woolite’s aggressive, mechanically skilled play earned him the title of Rookie of the Split.
Now, he’s on a brand-new (sort of) team in ROCCAT, where he’ll be laning with the equally talented Vander.
Fun fact: Woolite was a founding member of KMT, the team that would eventually become ROCCAT. There, he played with now-teammate Overpow, getting to know both him and the greater League of Legends community in his home country of Poland. As a result, he says, he’s more than comfortable on his new roster:
I [have been] close friends with the whole team for a while now. I have even played with some of the players before on my old teams, but coming to a team that likes to hold on to each other gives me the confidence that I have the time to improve myself even more without the stress that I need to perform instantly on the highest level.
It certainly doesn’t hurt that he seems to be melding well with support Vander, either. Playing with VandeR just feels amazing,” he says. “Our play style is quite similar. We are both aggressive players, and understand each other very well so with him in the bot lane I feel really confident of winning in any match up.”
Basically, watch out for their Twitch/Thresh lane. It could get scary.
“Currently I see myself as a top three ADC in Europe, but my goal is to be the best. Now, I have an amazing team and a super good support so I have no more excuses to be just decent -- so I am super motivated to go out there and show everyone what I can do.”
After a split on a struggling squad, Woolite is ready to put in the work to become the best. Fortunately for him, ROCCAT seems to be on the same page. “The changes in ROCCAT were done with the idea that we will focus not only on the official matches, but also on our preparation -- so even in scrims - we try as hard as we can so we can learn as much as we can.”
If they succeed, he says, maybe the rest of the world will forget about his infamous hats. “I want people to recognize me by being one of the best ADC in Europe, not by what I’m wearing on my head.”
