2017 NA CS Spring Qualifier Results and VODs

After a hard-fought series, two teams have emerged as the victors of the 2017 Spring NA Challenger Series Qualifiers!

Congratulations to Delta Fox and Big Gods Jackals for taking down their opponents in the CS Qualifier Finals and earning themselves a spot in the Spring Challenger Series! Delta Fox is the sister team to Echo Fox, and Big Gods Jackals is a former CBLoL team who sold their spot in Brazil to make a move to North America.

Delta fox intrigues me as although I don't think they stand a chance with gold coin united being the already massive favorites (fenix + santorin + loco as coach just screams "we will go 10-0 and murder everyone's faces!" ), the amount of talent they have makes me think they could make a run for 2nd. Allorim is a high-quality solo queue top laner, grigne (despite not being able to do much when subbing in for echo fox last year) is a high-quality jg, and damonte is a lot like goldenglue only that he's had literally zero lcs experience but seems to be far more knowledgable of the game. While I don't know anything about their botlane, the top/jg/mid core is a solo-queue wet dream of sorts and will definitely be something to keep an eye on.

Big Gods Jackals is, ugh. While I respect teams moving regions (and wish that more teams, namely UOL to NA because I'm always a fan for eccentric teams like those, would do it), their roster on paper looks to be ridiculously bad. Wiggly's a rookie, RF/Pekin woof are at best middle-class challenger players (with RF being on what was easily the worst challenger series team of all time, no seriously go look at their games, it was bad), and Konkwon (despite not being as terrible as most people would think he is) is coming off a 6 month competitive hiatus. I can easily see this team going 0-10, as the other rosters seem far more "stacked".

Dardoch was a rookie. You can't just call someone a rookie and say they're bad. Pekin Woof qualified for the NALCS. RF can grow with this team well, I am sure, and Eanix was no way his fault, that team had no house, no ADC, and a hella unstable roster with them using their coach as a player. KonKwon is a god.

Watch the games. This is with us being together for only a week with KonKwon being gone for a day of scrims and we even had a day w/o scrims.

The roster has huge potential, and I think they can go far.

Dardoch had a massive organization behind him and was essentially "groomed" into becoming a good jg, being TL's longterm investment of sorts. If we're looking at all the rookies that appeared last year in both LCS and CS, I'd say about 70% of them tend to do rather poorly/20% of them do "meh" and the other 10% do really really well (Contractz being the only one who kinda bucked the trend of sorts, but even then the difference in his play between being on ember and being on c9c was definitely noticable).

RF remains a bit of enigma to me, kinda. While I do kinda feel bad for him (being replaced by a guy who would then proceed to give up the 2nd-most deaths in a 2016 LCS game the following week), after watching a ton of his games both LCS with renegades and CS with eanix it seems as though he's never really had that one game in which he's been able to put his stamp on it. Who knows, maybe he'll have a good split and destroy the top laners (as I've mentioned in multiple posts before, the NA toplane scene is not really deep right now aside from the korean imports).

If we're looking at the entirety of the upcoming NACS, I'd definitely say it's comparable to last split. We have one juggernaut/probably 10-0 team (gcu taking the place of c9c), one wildcard with a ton of upside/upset potential (delta fox taking the place of TLA), and 4 other mystery teams in which it is ridiculously hard to call. While big god jackals does have "potential" (rule changes helping quite a bit as finishing in the top 2 doesn't even guarantee the promotion tournament now), it'll certainly be no small task.

Would you say Biofrost, Dardoch, as well as Contractz make up that 10% of rookies that do "really, really well"?

More or less. The echo fox rookies make up the first category (with kfo/hard/big not exactly having the best of times). If we're looking at EU, then we can kinda include the splyce rookies into the meh category and the g2 rookies into the "really well" one as the former had one terrible split mixed with a pretty decent one while the latter more or less exploded on what was and still is an incredibly weak region.

My only fear about RF is that he has been around for awhile now, but I haven't seen an impact from him in any game that made me go wow. I want him to succeed, but he always seen one step behind the LCS guys. I think he can do well, he just need to adjust his focus.

     I honestly think GCU is largely overrated. hate me for my opinion if you wish, but Locodoco seems to me like a cancerous tumor and while he may be "good" at what he does, i truly don't think this team is gonna take off like many people think.
     Some Reasoning: Santorin was never anything but eh in the lcs, especially for the time he spent on TSM being basically just a walking ward. Im not too scared of the rest of the roster either, though I have always seen Fenix as quite good, i think he could certainly go somewhere, but i don't think this is the team to do it on.

Yeah, the difference is that this team is in challenger and not the actual LCS (where the competition is far lower). While I don't think there'll be anything to brag about for them succeeding (as if they do make it to the LCS then they can only really brag that they're better than 1 of the 3 worst teams there), an almost impossible-to-happen failure would definitely "scar" their resumes of sorts, and would put an entirely new spin on what they did or did not achieve in the past 2 years of pro play.

I want Perkin Wolf to make it back in the LCS. He won his spot last year on Coast so I want him to get the spot he never lost back.
