Pobelter gets comfortable against Team Liquid

Winterfox's mid laner Eugene "Pobelter" Park didn't have much to lose going into his Week 9 match against Team Liquid. As the NA LCS veteran's team is already locked in to compete in the Promotion Tournament, they're only fighting for the chance to choose the Challenger Series team they'll play against. So for a team without much on the line, it almost came as a surprise just how hard they came out swinging against Team Liquid.
"This game we weren't really treating with a 'we have to win' mentality," Pobelter says, commenting on the significance of the match. In fact, he seemed almost relaxed going into it, having so much experience playing against them. "We also have a really good record against Liquid, even dating back to [when the team was called] Evil Geniuses. So I always feel good going against Liquid."
This time around, he explains that when Winterfox was able to grab the Nidalee pick for Dongjin "Helios" Shin, they decided to build a winning team comp around the Bestial Huntress. "Even if we were a little behind early game -- or at least I was -- we had the much better team comp I think because we had a lot of heavy poke and a strong tank line," Pobelter explains.
"On their side, they had a really sort of confused team comp, where they have engage with Annie, but nothing that can really follow up on a heavy dive. They have Renekton and Vlad which can kind of go deep, but not much instant crowd control to pair with Annie that well. We knew if we just played back, let our tanks soak damage, and shredded their front line with the double AD, then we could win pretty easily."
The strategy worked like an Ahri Charm and knocked Team Liquid one more step away from their Playoff dreams. As for Pobelter and Winterfox, even though their fate is sealed in terms of Playoffs, they're still keeping their head in the game for their match against Team Coast tomorrow. "We're the only team to lose to them this split, so hopefully we can redeem ourselves," says Pobelter.
