vVv Gaming's Official Amateur Draft League Season 3!

Hey Summoners! vVv Gaming is excited to announce the official launch of the third season of our Amateur Draft League. Starting October 22nd, these events will now be hosted every Sunday, Tuesday and Friday at 9pm EST (6pm PST) on the vVv Mumble server for any aspiring League of Legends player, both in and outside of vVv Gaming. The core of video games is a social and fun experience and any team game is more enjoyable when played in such a format. Every LoL player knows the absolute terror associated with solo queue, and the ADL seeks to provide a self-reliant outlet for your high quality 5v5 needs while avoiding the toxicity and disorganization of solo queue. Last season we had a great experience and have learned A LOT about organizing these events! They have become much more efficient and allows players a unique experience to interact with others in the like mindset of wanting to compete while improving.

We have come up with a complete set of rules and procedures which will ensure the quality of the game nights as well as a system which guarantees to reward the players who prove themselves more talented. Respect is paramount to the success of these nights, and part of the reasons we've seen such growth as a community in general since their inception. We have newly added a report system to help reform and eliminate all toxicity from events (because we all know how heated competitive league can get!) We have had just OVER 470 UNIQUE summoners attend, and many of our own members have risen from Platinum to Diamond, and many Silvers to Gold, thanks to the feedback given and level of play they experience from these Draft Nights. We have seen participants as low as Bronze 4 attend and as high as Challenger in Soloqueue and Ranked 5s. Additionally, vVv Gaming will still be providing a commentated stream of these game nights on our Twitch channel, allowing for players to gain exposure as well a provide a venue for those who were unable to be drafted to stay involved.

This also replicates the unique situation for many players where they are in the competitive 5v5 atmosphere, being casted live, with teammates who are listening to them, all while competing for prizes. These prizes include but are not limited to a SteelSeries Mouse and Headset, 8000 RP and a Triumphant Ryze skin, and a vVv Gaming T Shirt!

In addition to these prizes, vVv will also be hosting an All Star match at the end of the season, where the top 10 players from the season will play in a best of 3 tournament to showcase their skill. Another new addition to this season is our program for the players who do not get drafted! They will be brought into a separate room to spectate the game, then brought on the stream live to have a discussion about the match played.

The Event Begins at 9PM EST (6PM PST) every Sunday, Tuesday and Friday, players interested should show up around 8:45PM EST (5:45PM PST)

How to get involved:

  • You just need to join our mumble server in the "Draft League" channel and the in-game "vVv ADL" channel in the LoL Client BEFORE the start time.

  • If you have any issues setting up mumble, please arrive 15 minutes before the ADL (8:45EST) and we will help you.

  • For fairness in team selection, all participants should be present the start time so that all captains have access to the same set of participants when making team selections. If you really would like to participate and know you are going to be a little late (class, work, etc) and its within reason please feel free to message vVv Sun Down and we can figure something out.

  • IF you do not get picked, don't despair! We will have the remaining players either play norms, ranked 5s, or ARAMs (depending on interest).

Sound fun, I have a few questions. Are new teams formed every night, or are the same teams expected to show every night for the entire season? Also wondering about how many teams are formed, and how long each event is meant to last (an entire brackets worth of matches, or just a round robin type where points are on an individual basis, or something else?) thanks

EDIT: Made it to two nights so far, can confirm a lot of fun and been learning a lot (since every one there is better than me). Impressed by how well organized it is given it's a pretty casual atmosphere, you can just show up and play, no need to register or commit to a formal team. Just hoping I have positive ELO by the end of it, lol

***Are new teams formed every night, or are the same teams expected to show every night for the entire season? *** New teams are formed each night. It'd be impossible to expect the same people to show up without fail every night otherwise.

How many teams are formed? This depends on how many people we have, typically we have between 4-8 teams. We have had up to 20 teams before, including two different drafts (draft league A & B). We try to round off numbers in groups of 10, so if there's 40 people, that's 8 teams.

How long each event is meant to last & how are points awarded? Typically each event lasts about two hours, although it can extend to three depending on how long each game is (you know those 55 minute games). Each team plays two games, their adversary chosen at random. Each individual has their own score, with a +1 for a win, -1 for a loss and +1 for getting MVP in a game. Each player starts at 20 points, which is like your "starting ELO", then goes up or down based on how many losses, wins and MVPs you get each game. As an example, here is our Season 2 Scoresheet.

This is really awesome. I think I am going to start practicing again so I can maybe give this a chance someday. I was looking for an excuse to get serious about League again.

What rank are you now? You should definitely come play!

This year I am unranked because I haven't gotten up the nerve to play ranked. I am quite rusty lol. Last year I was placed in gold and the years before that I wasn't confident enough in my versatility in all roles to play ranked yet.
