Very few are born with the power to see into the future. The rest of us are forced to recklessly and repeatedly make outrageously specific predictions until one of them comes true and we can claim to be wizards.
Well, bookmark this page, friends, because this is where we become wizards! We called together our top-notch crew of precoginimagicians (or possibly just the first three people to respond to my email) to make big predictions about the biggest LoL match this year: the final match of the final series of the 2015 World Championship.
We're going to predict the full champion roster of the winning team in the last match of the final series at this year's World Championship.
Who will be right? Who will be shamed forever and spiral into a fit of unending depression caused by public humiliation? We'll know in nine months!
Top Lane
Phreak: Rumble. He's consistently underrated, yet devastating in the hands of an experienced player. We'll see Rumble appear every once in a while throughout the season, but really show up at the World Championship, just like he did in 2014.
Jatt: Kassadin. Let's be honest here, this guy is never truly going away. Whether it be bot or top lane he's going to have relevance of some kind and there's a good chance he'll be on the winning side of the 2015 Championship
Xpecial: Karthus. He'll provide the slows for teamfight engages. Plus, he'll take all the kills.
Jungle
P: Lee Sin. Let's be real, every jungler loves playing Lee Sin. No matter how powerful or weak he is, Lee Sin's honestly just too much fun to
not play.
J: Lee Sin. Amazingly he hasn't been on the winning side of any World Championship final games ever. How is that possible? Maybe he'll be nerfed enough to not be banned and then be immediately picked by the winning team.
X: Lee Sin. He'll provide the team's early kill pressure.
Mid Lane
P: Ezreal. I'm going for a shot in the dark here, but double AD comps are good. They've got magic damage in top lane already, so running a second AD carry is safe. Honestly, the mid lane pool is so varied every season.
J: Orianna. Because Orianna…
X: Jayce. He'll combo speed boosts with Karthus' slows on the enemy team for engages.
AD Carry
P: Corki. It's Corki, and it's Worlds. This is a no-brainer.
J: Kalista. Have you seen Sneaky's Hurricane Kalista build? Seems like it will catch on... and since Worlds is right around the corner, this prediction is a shoe-in.
X: A brand-new mystery champion. This champion will obviously be OP and will just do damage.
Support
P: Thresh is the Lee Sin of supports. There are a lot of great supports, but everyone loves playing Thresh. So he's getting played at Worlds. Sorry, other champions.
J: Sion. Mark my worlds. It's happening. (If you don't believe me go play support Sion and max E.)
X: Veigar. He'll be able to set up easy stuns with the speed boosts and slows from Jayce and Karthus.
The Strategies
P: Double AD early power spike. Both AD Carries are Trinity Force users, and it's well known that it's the best item in the game, so why wouldn't the team with more of them win the World Championship?
Rumble and Lee Sin also match the early power spike profile, so the entire comp works quite well. Reach ~18 minutes, group up, and push down some turrets. Special shoutout to Banner of Command, Elixir of Ruin, or Zz'Rot Gates for extra pushing power.
J: Kassadin ball delivery system, obvi. Kassadin brings the ability to run down stragglers and some nice late game insurance. Lee Sin will always have insane map control early and fantastic initiation in the right hands. Orianna offers everything, which is why she'll always be relevant in the finals. Kalista is really cool, so there's that. And Sion throws minions at people.
X: If there are so many walls, how can the enemy team do anything?! This team comp will use the famous "catch that guy and kill him" strategy. It's very effective. Plus, they'll have very classy skins.
Bonus Points: Skins
Sometimes looking cool is how you win the game*. Just in case we have a tie (and someone remembers to check this article months from now), we each get one skin pick as a tie-breaker!
* This statement is not endorsed by the LCS judges.
P: SKT Lee Sin. That'd be an awesome homage. Also, I'm making the prediction that SKT wins Worlds again, so it's just Bengi playing as himself.
J: Lumberjack Sion. Maybe they really liked the finale of Dexter.
X: Grim Reaper Karthus, for stealing all those kills.
What about you?
Don't leave these brave souls hanging out there with only their wild speculation. Toss your own predictions in the comments below, so you can claim precognisant wizard powers later this year!
Josh Augustine's favorite champion is Teemo/Riven/Urgot/Jinx/Nidalee, he's never enjoyed a Darius, and he will always go for the kill, even when he knows he shouldn't. He currently works as a game designer on EverQuest Next at Sony Online Entertainment. He’d love to talk with you on Twitter.
