Unintentional Spoilers in VODs

Hi there,

I don't know where to post this, never posted before -- Hopefully this is the right place. There are big problems with the website for lol esporsts. There are things on the website that give away who will win previously completed matches. It can ruin the experience when you don't watch live. But they're also pretty easy to fix. I hope you can direct this to the right person:

  1. Sometimes there are tiebreaker matches listed under the VODs. If a team A is involved in a tie breaker with lower ranked teams, that suggests that A lost the previous game. There's no way to avoid seeing this spoiler. A solution is to have an additional expandable menu for potential tiebreaker games that you have to click on to see.

  2. When watching single VODs, if the time of the video is short, and one side gets off to an early lead, it becomes obvious who will win because there isn't enough time for a comeback. This can be solved by padding videos at the end with a load screen, so that videos are at least 1 hour. If the video is 1 hour, potentially either team can win.

For example, in the recent finals (I've only watched the first game). At 18 minutes, TSM is up 8-1. There are only 25 mins left in the VOD, and 7 of that is going to be commentary. So I know that TSM is going to win with like 99% probability. C9 can't make a comeback in 18 minutes, but they could potentially if there were, say, 40 minutes left in the VOD. Even at 9 minutes when they were up 3-0, I knew TSM was going to win.

  1. When watching long VODs (like a daily stream of play), it's easy to tell how many games were played in a series. Because of this, you can determine who won sometimes. Games and commentary last about 1 hour per game.

E.g. if there is a 4-hour stream, and team A won the first two games. I know there is a total of 4 games. Then I know that team B wins the next one, and then A takes the series. Or if there is a 5-hour stream, and team A wins the first two, I know that team B must win the second two (but I cannot tell who wins the series obviously). This can be solved by padding the video to, say, 6 hours with a loading screen at the end.

There might be more things, this is all I can think of the moment. Hope this helps you improve user experience. Cheers,

Rob
