Tips for Ranked

Out of over 1,000 games and over 6 years of playing I've only recently began playing ranked.

I have some questions for people who play ranked and win. I keep moving between Bronze III and II, losing slightly more than I win. I haven't done much studying on the game I just usually jump in and play, and once I get to know a champion Riot seems to rework them.

1.) Do you tend to play the same champion back to back; or do you play the best champion for the current matchup?

2.) There are several champions I've seen here and there, but I don't even know what type of champion they are. How should I study/learn about them and what champion is a counter to another? There seem to be more I haven't heard of every time I play.

3.) Do you actually study different/opponent champions and their moves? Do you study the stats, as in how much damage each move does, how each stack works with different items, etc.?

That all seems so overwhelming. I used to study that stuff in another game when I was younger, but League has so many champions and items it seems near impossible to grasp. I suppose I just start with my main champion and go from there?

Thanks

  1. Same champ

  2. Lane against the champion, lose to the champion, see what you did wrong, correct your mistakes against that champ. Any champion can win against any champion if youre better.

  3. No. You dont need to learn everything of an enemy champion. All you need to know is dodge skill shots, last hit cs, harass enemy when he goes in for creeps.

Im not all about the damage study, but i can usually give a good guess of the damage trough experience. But the best advice i can give is watch the pros play. you will learn a lot. I have some main champs i play yes, i can always rely on those. I also try to follow the meta because why not abuse wahts strong, right?

You do need to learn what most champs in the game do in order to climb. You can learn a lot by watching the champion spotlights.
