NZ GAMING CHAMPIONSHIP LEAGUE OF LEGENDS PREMIERSHIP 2016 Qualifying Tournament Announcement.

The NZGC is bringing top-level eSports back to NZ Screens in 2016 and all League of Legends players have their shot at the title starting July 30th and 31st with the Open Qualifier event.

Entry for teams is free and registration is open online now at uproar.gg/community/nzgc

Four teams will join 2015 Champions ‘Villains’ and a final team selected at a ‘Last Shot’ qualifier in Mid-August, to compete in the first NZGC Premiership over six grueling weeks of tournament play.

Players will be flown from around the country to Auckland each week to face each other in the Hexadome - NZ’s first eSports Arena. SKY will broadcast these match-ups every Wednesday starting September 7th from 7.30pm plus weekly round-robin and elimination matches will screen live online on a purpose-built NZ gaming hub from September 3rd.

The NZGC will break even more new ground with all roads leading to the live Grand Final event on October 12th at The Idea Collective at MOTAT in Auckland. NZGC President Dan Wrightson said, > “Delivering the first Live Broadcast of eSports with SKY in December was just the beginning of something massive. Esports is growing like wildfire and the NZGC Premiership will introduce new teams, players and champions to fans in 2016.”

He adds; > “Villains have set the benchmark for total professionalism in eSports with an outstanding tournament winning record and exceptional playing roster. It will be exciting to watch our next top gaming teams trying to take them down.”
