$$$$ speaks boyos. Of course Riot isn't going to accept teams that aren't profitable. The most major offender being Immortals, as they keep spending money out their ass. Meanwhile Echo Fox has gotten even more big-brand sponsors.

And I quote from the original article releasing the info, More information has surfaced in regards to Immortals' declination. In addition to Immortals' role in the Overwatch League, sources close to Riot Games have contacted ESPN to express that Riot had concerns around Immortals' finances. The team has operated at a significant loss since its formation in late 2015, sources said, and would not be able to contribute to the revenue share -- which sees money go both to and from the developer and other teams.

IMT was my second favorite team to CLG, and even CLG barely made it in. The players from IMT will all be picked up by new/other teams, and there is a good chance a new org will probably buy out all of them. Stop clinging so much to the brand, the logo and name isn't what won them games, their players did.

You can argue all you want for the other teams until statements are made, but I see most people crying about IMT and that is the only team there has been mention of Riot's reasons for.

All in all, IMT would have been dead weight to every other team in the league because they share revenue, so not only would it hurt Riot but it'd hurt every team participating.

I have no doubt in my mind IMT sheeple are going to throw out the facts and just choose to disagree anyways because of the sheer success of the org since they've been founded, but what are you going to do? Monkeys on the boards aren't going to bring them back. If you want to bring them back, either donate around $20 mil yourself to them, or start a gofundme that can raise that much. Good luck.

Thank god I'm not the only one who thinks this. I love IMT,they're my second favorite NA org behind C9. I love Noah Winston, dude is one of the best owners in eSports, but damn somebody needs to take the bank card away from him. IMT has spent over $30,000,000 this year (yes most of that is for the OWL application) & is still looking to build a stadium in LA exclusively for the OWL team. I don't know the numbers on IMT's profits, but it's most certainly less than they've spent...

For me, the problem I think most people see isn't that IMT is exiting the league, but moreso the fact that barring an absolute miracle the potential for an expansion on the "holy trinity" (CLG, C9, TSM) will have to wait a looong time, should one of the newer teams not just take the entire current IMT roster/coaching staff. While I do agree that Noah's spent a ton, I'd argue that it shows more about dedication to his brand and trying to grow esports (the cs:go thing being a great example as he didn't have to do it that way) than being someone who is terrible at money-management, as people expect the OWL to be massively popular (I say "people" to try and exclude me from this as I'm in the outlier camp who doesn't see it doing too well) and having a stadium would potentially allow them to do sports-related stuff with "home" and "away" games.

Ultimately, after thinking about it for a while I'm not really "angry" about IMT losing their spot and more annoyed about all the wasted potential. Much like 2016 Splyce, this team had the perfect combination of coaching, player talent, and general likability of the organization (pap-xmithie and ma-xmithie attending their kid's games giving it a "if you're IMT you're family" kind of vibe) which is rarely replicated and often draws a ton of revenue (the texans being a great example as apparently they're the 13th most profitable NFL org despite being relative shite for the past 10 years). Rito killed a unicorn, here's hoping one of the remaining teams can come even remotely close.

The only sheeple around here are Riot apologists buying the company line hook line and sinker. Baaaah Baaaaah Baaaaah Riot Good. Riot Awesome. Baaaaaaah Baaaaaah Baaaaah. IMT Broke. Baaaaah Baaaaaah Baaaaaah. IMt's finances are no different than any other team. And that line was only trotted out after things exploded. So instead of a team whose CEO carried your let's franchise water for you a year and a winner, you accept mediocre teams that have never done squat. Well I for one am not going to watch NA any more. Why should I watch an inferior, watered and dumbed down region of hot garbage losers like liquid, Flyquest, and Fox?

Yeah totally agree on the player part

But it does leave a sour feeling in my mouth regardingwhat happened. IMT was a huge proponent for this transition and they get booted lol

With that said, they should have work of getting sponsors. Sucks because the team was beginning to pick up fans
