The North American Challenger Series quarterfinals kicked off a day late following a forfeit by XDG. Their opponent, Frank Fang Gaming, moved on to the semis. The only series of the week ended up being a sweep by Team Lolpro against Area of Effect, but it certainly delivered a heaping helping of excitement to top off the weekend.
From competing in the Season Three World Championship to being forced to forfeit their NA CS match to Frank Fang Gaming due to not patching their game clients in a timely fashion. The team's fall has been as precipitous as any seen in a competitive environment. Given that they were playing with Benny, a retired top laner, in the middle lane just to maintain a spot in the tournament, this team will have a lot of rebuilding to do to even reach a shadow of its former self.
Game of the week
Team Lolpro vs Area Of Effect Game 1 The first game of the weekend for NA CS was an excellent one. Area Of Effect maintained a lead throughout, and looked to knock Team Lolpro out during a siege of the Lolpro top inhibitor. Unfortunately, a slight positioning mistake by EvanRL's Caitlyn led to her early death, and Team Lolpro used the lack of damage coming out of the rest of AoE's team comp to score four kills. Thanks to their team fight victory occurring fifty minutes into the match, Team Lolpro was able to rush up the middle lane, and break apart the Nexus while Area of Effect waited for extremely long respawn timers.Top Performer of the Week
Ben "LOD" deMunck One of the potential weaknesses for Team Lolpro due to his role swap turned into its biggest strength against Area of Effect. LOD's Syndra was devastating in both games with a 7/1/8 KDA in game one and an 11/4/8 KDA in game 2. It wasn't just the Unleashed Power burst that he used to perfection, it was the entire champion kit. Timely Scatter the Weak stuns continuously fouled up Area of Effect's plans, and thrown minions, or Dark Spheres were consistent slows on multiple Area of Effect members.Disappointment of the Week
