Did every team suddenly get worse or is there something behind it?

Hey esport watchers. I dedicate 12 hours every weekend just to watch game by game how great out north american nation has progressed in their competitive abilities, but I've noticed something odd. MVP hot star players such as bjergson, stixxay, pobeltor, and even hai are clearly being crushed these past few weeks. Is it because the nalcs enviroment has just gotten harsher? I think not. I believe I have the answer as to why this is happening.

Not too long ago, a proud NAborn adc retired from the scene. Doublelift. not too long later, any professional league of legends player started realizing the depressing state of bottom lane marksmen. We can attribute this to the fact that doublelift had carried the role entirely on his back alone, NA's kill leader. Without him , the role's glaring weaknesses pop out. Doublelift kept people on the edge, always pushing every other team to get better or get lifted. Now that he's gone, everyone has relaxed, even double's own team.

We all know he started his career out as singlelift, then he advanced the the doublelift stage. This stage is where he made his name, where anyone who watches the lcs semi-moderately knows who he is. But what many might not know is that he can progress into an even higher stage! It's mainly been seen on his stream but it is confirmed that he can channel the level of triplelift. But it seems that carrying so much baggage alone in the saharan desert that is soloqueue has taken a toll on him. He is pushing himself too far. Triplelift is not his natural state but he went there anyways for his fans.

There is only one way we can restore nalcs to it's former glory. We must make this right. He sacrificed himself for his fans. Now, we must do the same for him. Shoot your arms into the sky and give him your energy! Restore doublelift to his former power level!

They'll stabilize around the Summer Split. NA teams tend to have really weird Spring splits, presumably because of the Seasonal changes that occur and them taking so long to adjust to them. Granted I would like to think DLift would want to come back for one last split and one last shot at Worlds to try for a World Title before officially retiring compared to just sort of taking a hiatus.... and then never returning from said hiatus.

Because the teams get good at playing against other teams in the region on a specific patch more so than they get better over all. Therefore at start of spring with new patch and new rosters all of that gets tossed out the window.

Too much DBZ friend!

This split is no different from the other splits in the past, at the start of every split teams are winning and losing against each other and trying to find common ground against each other is all.

Do I think the NA LCS has gotten stronger or "harsher" - yeah, I do.
For years mainly 2013/14 teams were just playing League of Leggo with no real strategic or thought behind any plays, it was just mainly " I'm going to play this champion because I'm good on him" etc.

It wasn't until C9 came into the scene that they made the other NA teams actually be good and have plans and focus more because the C9 team back in 2013 Summer had A. The best shotcaller in NA at the time(Hai), B. A good pick ban mind(Lemon) C. A player that didn't care about KDA or stats but only cared for his team(Balls) D. Friendship(Meteos and Sneaky).... or is it Love?(- JOKE)

NA should give more love around C9 and TSM more so than D-Lift for a number of reasons. Stated above + A rivalry happened- Maybe I'm wrong but C9 vs TSM was the first real Western Rivalry(in my opinion) I didn't watch League before 2013 but EU there wasn't a rivalry maybe EG vs GMB but... if so as far as NA is concerned TSM vs C9 became more of a rivalry than TSM vs CLG because it wasn't just " I want to beat you" but more of "I want to be BETTER than you".
It's no coincidence that TSM and C9 are constantly meeting each other in the Playoffs( 2013 Summer, 2014 Spring, 2014 Summer, 2015 Spring, 2016 Spring, 2017 Summer) because if you just "beat someone" it's over but if you want to be "better" you turn up against each year after year, split after split.

Its the beginning of the split, the first few weeks are always in shambles. Wait til the mid to late weeks of the split and you will see the teams start to take shape.

On a side note...

FUCK YEAH ECHOFOX! Finally showing they can actually compete at the pro scene.

Teams really don't play and practice all winter 24/7. Even teams with the same roster start out a bit rusty. Then you throw in all the teams with new players or in the case of Immortals 4 new players one of which arrived right before the split started and well the first two weeks aren't going to be the best. CLG tanking the first couple of weeks is nothing new.
