Lack of variety in competitive League....

I really enjoy watching competitive leauge of legends at the highest level but the lack of variety is starting to bother me. Why is there only a pool of around 20 champs that the best players will choose in these games? I realize that the way the game is there is always going to be a pool of champs that are played more than others but it would be awesome if they could get that number up to 30 and even 40+ in the long term. The games are still entertaining but everyone gets so exicited when a wild card pick comes in because it adds so much variety to the game.

Is this something Riot is aware of and working on?

53 unique champs have been played in the spring split alone.

If you look at unique champs played for the past year, it ends up being about 80% of the champ roster.

Are you smoking something because right now is the most diversity we've seen in awhile. Hell even Urgot is being played.

Yep, no diversity. Hecarim Top/Mid. Urgot Mid/ADC, Fizz Jungle/Top, Morg Top/Mid/Support, Naut Jung/Support, Liss Top/Mid TF, Corki Mid/Adc Senju/Zac/Kat,Mundo, Trundle, Anivia (Thank you Faker), and so many other champions.

I also have to say, Leviathan (Coach of Gambit Gaming) is awesome. He considers all Champions Viable but when a player comes to him saying they want to play a champion, he asks them what they bring to a comp. If they don't fit the role for the comp the player says that champion fits, he tells them to think on it more. Best Coach that wasn't a Pro!
