NA LCS New Studio Qualms

The new studios are beautiful, but there are many improvements that could be made.

Parking Validation Station

-We parked in the structure but after the game we had no idea where to get our validation and got trouble for it while leaving. No one even mentioned to us we needed to get validated, so clarity on parking situation would be amazing.

Seating

  • Everyone comes and goes as they please during matches, but there really should be assigned seating. People would take seats unintentionally and cause awkward, unnecessary situations. Just number the seats.

Smoking Area

  • Smoking is cool and all, but the clouds of cigarettes were seeping into the lobby. Just put a seating area for the smokers.

Studio Lights

-The studios light were awesome, but they need to be dimmed during the game. It was impossible to see properly seated in the middle a whole game because the lights were glaring on you, flashing and pulsing around the entire game. There was a point where sunglasses were necessary and so many people were wearing them inside!

Merchandise Store

  • That place was BEAUTIFUL! Perfectly placed. Some entrance & exit signs would probably help with traffic in the lobby. Those guards standing there wouldn't say a word to help you out!

Overall The new studios were so awesome! I am only suggesting to help improve the studios! There was a huge crowd of people and I think with a little more organization the flow of people would be better. The games were so much fun this weekend and we can't wait to come to more!

Another thing you guys should look into is partnering with local food trucks to serve on the weekends. Beneficial to all! The whole parking lot is empty and barren. I'm sure it'd even catch people to come by and learn about LCS!

(and that just sounds yummy. I mean they should all even feature like a LoL themed menu. I'd buy some Rammus Rolls or like Poro Snacks or even some Bandito enchiladas!)

Anyways, thanks for the cool new studio Riot! See you next weekend!

I was also present this past weekend at the NA LCS studio in its new Santa Monica location and I enjoyed it but I do agree with you about a couple things:

The lights: Pretty Intense red and blue l.e.d.s blaring down on you even during the matches. I chose to move to the back after a few matches from my seat in the middle so that I was not hit by lighting from both sides. The other lighting issue I had was the flashing border around the main viewing screen. It was very distracting along side the other moving lights on and around the stage.

The seating: Admittedly we arrived after the first match and "stole" other peoples seats. They had no items saving their seats and it was a little awkward but we gave them back and found others that were open. I saw this happen a few times to other groups also. Just a bit uncomfortable.

The Parking: The website to buy tickets clearly states where to park and that they will validate parking. I didn't personally validate or even ask where to do so. It wasn't posted how to do it exactly but I figured it wouldn't be a problem anyways. The parking attendant let us out with no complications.

The Smoking: A little bad near the entrance. I joined the crowd to vape so I can't say much, but the lobby did start to smell in between matches from people on the stairs with cigarettes. It's more of a personal politeness to step away to the side, unfortunately not everybody gets it.

-The merch store exit was funny, it's right at the entrance to the building and the guy looked SERIOUS about not letting people in that door. It took some awkward questioning to figure out how to gain entrance. Maybe a well placed exit only sign next to him. Minor issue.

-The food situation is kinda just rattling about; I very much enjoy that we can go get some food and bring it in, this rule would work well with a food truck situation...and maybe r!ot could get a cut of the sales? I don't know how those things work but I'm sure there would be a way to gain partnerships.

The studio is wonderful and I plan on going more this year.

The matches were great and I felt the area for meeting players was much more organized than the last studio and the shop was an actual shop and not just a concert counter.

Hey guys!

This is super helpful and awesome. To address your points:

  • Parking validation - Thanks for bringing this up. We'll work to make it more clear where to get validation!

  • Seating - Admittedly there are awkward moments when people get up for one reason or another and people back fill, but we also want to allow people to get the best seats possible if they're available. We want to avoid the front row being empty because some people didn't show up. We'd rather the best seats be utilized and leave the empty seats (if there are any, it was pretty fully this past weekend!) for the back row.

  • Smoking area - Great thoughts. We'll move the smoking area a bit further away from the front door to make sure the smoke isn't trailing into the lobby.

  • Studio lights - Loud and clear here. We'll talk to the broadcast team about dimming/cutting the lights during the games!

  • Merch store - Glad you like it! We'll work on those entry and exit signs, as well as getting the guards to help with the flow.

  • Food trucks - Interesting idea that we'll definitely explore! Thanks for bringing it up.

Thanks for coming out and experiencing the LCS with us! We really appreciate this sort of feedback, as we're always working to improve. Hope you guys come back soon!
