There's only one event left before the IEM World Championship in Katowice: one last stop upon the tropical island of Taiwan, where Southeast Asia and Oceania's finest duke it out for the honors of representing their region upon the stage of the largest third-party League of Legends circuit. Here's what to expect.

NAMES AND FACES AT IEM TAIPEI

Six teams are to duke it out in Taipei, representing a mix of local LMS and GPL competitors. In addition, Australian champions Avant Garde will represent Oceania's recently debuted pro circuit.
  • AHQ E-Sports Club
  • Taipei Assassins
  • Yoe Flash Wolves
  • Saigon Jokers
  • Bangkok Titans
  • Avant Garde

TOURNAMENT FORMAT

Given the number of teams, IEM Taipei will be a single-elimination knockout event. Quarterfinals and Semifinals will be played as best-of-three sets with the grand finals a full best-of-five. As Saigon Jokers and AHQ E-Sports Club are the first-placed teams of their respective regional qualifiers, they are automatically seeded into the semifinals.

ON THE LINE

IEM Taipei boasts a $75,000 prize pool for its League of Legends and Starcraft 2 events, of which $50,000 awaits the League of Legends competitors. Outside of the monetary prize, the champions—as with prior IEM events—will secure their place at the IEM World Championship in Katowice on March 12.

THE SCHEDULE

IEM Taipei will be held from January 28 to February 1st at the Taipei Game Show. Broadcast schedule is as follows: Wednesday
  • Yoe Flash Wolves vs Bangkok Titans: 11:00 CNST | 19:00 PST | 4:00 CET
  • Taipei Assassins vs Avant Garde: 14:00 CNST | 22:00 PST | 7:00 CET

  • Saigon Jokers vs TPA/Avant Garde: 14:00 CNST | 22:00 PST | 7:00 CET
Friday
  • Finals: 11:00 CNST | 19:00 PST | 4:00 CET

WHERE TO WATCH

All games will be broadcast in English over on ESL's League of Legends Twitch channel. The live broadcast will take place at the 2015 Taipei Game Show, held at the Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall 1. Editor's Note: This article initially indicated that Legacy Esports would be attending IEM Taipei, and not Avant Garde. Though it is comprised of Avant Garde's former roster, Legacy Esports is a separate organization and Avant Garde now maintains a new lineup. Lolesports regrets the error. Photos courtesy of ESL
