The road to Worlds ends here. After clawing their way through the relentless Group Stage of the League of Legends 2014 World Championship, these remaining teams have tasted international glory and are ready for more. Let's take a look at the eight best League of Legends teams in the world. Group A: Samsung White (KR), Edward Gaming (CN) Group B: Star Horn Royal Club (CN), Team SoloMid (NA) Group C: Samsung Blue (KR), OMG (CN) Group D: NaJin White Shield (KR), Cloud9 (NA)

What is the Knockout Stage?

The third phase of the 2014 Worlds tournament is referred to as the Knockout Stage and it is divided into three parts. The Knockout Stage begins with the Quarterfinals in Busan, Korea, on October 3 at 5pm KST (be sure to adjust for your local time zone!). Afterwards, the tournament will continue with the Semifinals in Seoul, Korea, on October 11. The Knockout Stage will conclude with the Finals in Seoul, Korea, on October 19. Throughout the Knockout Stage, teams will play games in a Best of 5 format. The winner of each series will move on, while the loser will be eliminated from the tournament.

What Happens During the Knockout Stage?

The bracket seeding for the Knockout Stage is determined by a team's final Group Stage record. The top two teams from each Group will be seeded into a bracket. The team that secures the number one seed will play the number two seed from the opposite group that competed in the same Group Stage phase. The winner of each match will move on to the Semifinals. The Semifinals will feature two Best of 5 matches between the Quarterfinals winners. The winners of the Semifinals will then go on to compete against one another in the Finals. Finals is a face off between the year’s top two League of Legends teams in the world. It will consist of one Best of 5 match between the winners of the Semifinals. The victorious team will become the League of Legends 2014 World Champion and take home the coveted Summoner’s Cup.

What's on the Line?

Teams will earn prize money based on the position they finish in the Knockout Stage. The breakdown is as follows: World Champion - $1,000,000 USD 2nd Place - $250,000 USD 3rd Place - $150,000 USD 4th Place - $150,000 USD 5th Place - $75,000 USD 6th Place - $75,000 USD 7th Place - $75,000 USD 8th Place - $75,000 USD

I think Cloud 9 has a CHANCE, not a good one, but there is a CHANCE they can beat samsung blue. Their games vs white shield on the last day are some of the best games of League of Legends I have ever seen. If they show up with that kind of attitude and shotcalling they can beat samsung blue.

Damn wanted NA to go at least to semifinals. All I can hope for now is that SSW and SSB are gentle when having their way.

well at least tsm and c9 won 75 k

Optimistically speaking, Both C9 and Tsm beat the Korean machine, cuz merica. C9 and tsm, tsm wins, cuz tsm bandwagon. Najin and Starhorn got to semi, Najin plays tsm, tsm loses cuz pressure and NA still without a summoner's cup :(

Borkahn9/30/2014, 10:42:18 PM3 votes

Pulling for TSM in this.

PandaGamer10/1/2014, 9:31:03 PM3 votes

so heres my "pick'em", semis with 2 samsung teams, royal club and omg; while ssw and royal club excels, ssw take home the champion. also im really hoping not to see 2 teams from the same region(kr) in the finals~~

FatPacifist9/30/2014, 5:10:06 PM2 votes

So, money is the only thing "on the line"? Interesting...

Jihadi Ghandi10/1/2014, 4:22:59 AM1 votes

What's ridiculous is that if TSM and Could 9 do manage to win they then are forced to compete against each other forcing an NA team out of the competition while the Korean teams need not face each other until at minimum semi finals. Ridiculous. That just goes to show Riot's agenda - to please the Korean crowd.

The odds that a Korean team wins is 37%, NA 13%. Ridiculous.
