Question: Professional Game Data?

Hello all,

First time posting on these boards-- I just had a quick question.

Does anyone know where the people who do stat articles on pro games get their data from? I am aware of the queries available on the Riot API... but to do that I need the match ID for those professional match. Where could I get them? Or is there another way I am not familiar with?

By the way, this goes beyond the scope of like... game length and kda. I think there are some metrics for like where champions died and at what time/ which place on the map.

Thanks!

This is a pretty common question we get over on our Developer forums regularly. Unfortunately, due to special nature of how the Pro server realms are run, there is no simple way to elegantly hook into the data with the production API at this time. It's something we would like to do in the future and we've had a few conversations with the eSports team about this, but we don't have any concrete updates at this time. Rest assured though, it's on the API teams backlog once the blockers are out of the way!

As to how it's done currently, most sites get their data one of two ways.. they either "scrape" the data live from the lolesports.com website, or in the case of some really die-hard sites they actually have a team of people who input and update the data by hand in real time as the matches are played.

There are probably forums on reddit, tumblur and other social media sites. Another good way is just to watch the matches or looking at the players game history
