When i saw the brackets i thought that the winner of the C9 TSM QF would play CLG and not IMT. Can anyone explain why this happened and why TL is playing CLG and not IMT?

IMT as the #1 seed was given the highest remaining seed of the 2 teams that made it past the quarter finals. This was TSM the #6 seeded team.

There was a general problem in the past where teams were incentivized to lose games towards play offs to get into an easier bracket. This change removed that so the highest seed always plays the lowest seed.

I think their Spring W/L records actually determine who plays who. I haven't looked but I think TL is facing CLG cause they had a better record. TSM is facing IMT cause they had a worse record. The idea with the bracket is to make it as likely as possible for the winner of the split to make it to the finals by pitting them against lower tiered teams. That's the whole advantage to winning the split.

Thanks for explaining it. It makes sense now.

Also, it doesn't help that people often mix up the meaning of "highest seed" and "lowest seed"
