L.O.L being a sport

Why is it that the creators of this game want it to be considered a sport? Is it not enough to say league of legends is simply a great game? What'll happen when this game dies out, in twenty years from now? It will never be in the Olympics, and the games about as limited as combo's with 4 skills. When you get down to it, there really isn't any insane trick shot's you can make like in other, athletic sports. A great game, but limited nevertheless. It's hard making a living out of league, because generally most teams end up living in the same house, working side jobs. Anyways, league of legends is cancerous.

I shall attempt to answer each of your questions/sentences here.

  1. Most likely money and publicity, as well as promoting the growth of e-sports in general.

  2. It is a great game, and great games make good sports. One, in my opinion, often can indicate the other.

  3. When League dies out, the players will move on to other games, and other e-sports will be popular.

  4. If e-sports are ever played in the Olympics, then League will be there. And if e-sports are never in the Olympics, then League can still be a good e-sport and enjoyed by many. There are other measurements of success beside being in the Olympics.

  5. Watch some of faker's outplays before you say you can't make insane trick shots. And League's focus is also on strategic play, as well as flashy outplays.

  6. I think League has just as much depth as traditional sports, and is not limited in my mind.

  7. Good players can make a decent income from streaming, salary from riot, and tournament winnings. Not sure how good of a salary, but I have never heard of a player working a side job in one of the 5 main regions.

  8. League does share some similarities with cancer, but what does that have to do with anything again?

Just my random internet person opinion on your questions.

More importantly, you wont get U.S. visa for a competition based on just a video game.. It needs to be recognized as a sport by the U.S. government.
