With the results of the Mid-Season Invitational directly impacting the 2016 League of Legends World Championship, there’s more on the line than ever for the competing teams. Our English language broadcast team will be on-site to cover the clash of the six regional champions live from the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center.

"plenty" what's that? Is that a number or a guestimate? Do you have anything other than nothing as far as information goes as to how many English viewers of pro LOL games watch OGN versus watch western LCS matches?

Just some salty guys cuz OGN casters wanted more money than someone was willing to pay.

They'd probably defend capitalism to the death but don't understand if someone else is willing to do your job for cheaper, you had better have something better going for you than "can provide ingsight into Korean teams/strats" that honestly, most fans don't care about.

They're stuck thinking just because THEY like OGN casters that the bulk of English speaking viewers do too, which doesn't even make sense since the regular casual viewer out there probably doesn't even know DOA or Papa, and possibly doesn't know monte either.

Because they've assembled a talented and competent team of casters. Why would they pay Doa, Monte, and Papa Smithy more money to do the same job that their own team can do just as well? Why would they hire freelancers to do the same job that they already have talent for? That's redundant and wasteful.

No, it's not redundant and wasteful, since Doa, Monte, and Papa Smithy have been commentating and analyzing Korean games for the past couple of years, and know the narratives, players, styles, and techniques better than the NA/EU/CN casters, some of whom don't even watch Korea. Clement has admitted on Summoning Insight to not watching Korea. i.a.

It's not like knowing a couple extra tidbits of trivia is going to really amp up the casting and analysis of the games, which the current crew can handle without the trio. What the trio brings to the table are their popularity and personalities.

Jatt, for one among several, is incredibly versed in Korean games/strats and everyone who's interested, fans, casters, analysts are pretty much all familiar with the players and narratives.

Agreed. If we even agree that there is a benefit to the LCK casters, what kind of % quality increase could we even estimate? Would Monte do a 20% better job than Jat? Does the bulk of the viewers care? No...

Never liked Monty, he seems to only pay attention to Korea 99.9% of the time, and thus his analysis if anyone else is involved is, quite frankly, uninformed and borderline idiotic.

Overall though, I'm happy with the caster lineup. More people is not always better.

Although we could do with less Dash....

Go back and watch what happens with Riv casts any game of importance. The guy fumbled almost every sentence he spoke after game two of TL vs CLG then in the finals he was just slightly better. It was a legit joke. I would much rather have doa monty and papa smithy over most the casters. Lets just hope Dash doesn't look like a weeb for this tournament.

It's not a legit joke, the audience fucking loves Riv. You'd rather have doa/whoever, but most of the audience doesn't even know those guys exist.

What a load of shit. First of all I'd have to believe you with your assertion Riv fumbles more words than anyone else, which I don't at all lol. Also you made that up about his one and only job, because you don't know. As far as what I can see and it being your fault, what you're saying holds no water. If I accept what you say, and I don't, that Riv fumbles a higher percentage of words spoken than DOA, why would I believe you? You're just making it up.

The games have been really entertaining and I would definitely recommend watching them. I might be a bit critical of riv and his casting but this tournament is worth watching regardless of who the casters are.

How is it greedy to decide not to hire a freelancer when you have an in house team that can do a very competent job casting? Why would one hire outside help to do the same job that your own employees can do just as well? Why hire 2 people to do the same job?

When you say viewers, you're talking about long term hardcore fans. When I talk about viewers, I talk about reality. I know 5 people who watch LCS, including me, 2 of us watch it a lot, the other 3 watch probably 4-5 hours a month. None of us watch LCK. Even more people I don't know IRL but know of online don't watch LCK. So I have a small sample size, but I think with anything related to gaming you have a big casual crowd and a smaller hardcore crowd. This also goes for watching Pro LOL. There are hardcores who know all the players/teams/regions/standings/history, and then there are the rest who have a favourite team they cheer for and may or may not know about the rest. They barely know the names of NA casters let alone LCK.

I specifically never claimed all viewers are like me. I am saying most of them.
