DO IT!!!!!!! I am also a fan of Fnartic and am rooting for them. That being said.......I definitely respect SKT and it seems like it might be their year again the way that they are playing. Lets get em FNATIC!

SKT won't lose to Fnatic. Origen has a better chance.

why you think that? i dont think fnc will win i think skt will go 3/1 but still we already know fnc can take on skt. and this time fnc is more prepared + origen is a serious enemy, skt was holding back for now (faker didnt play any of his mains at all) but against origens they have to play serious and those games will be very useful informations for fnc.

Not necessarily. It's Faker. We could see a million different things from him, really and Marin has been the scarier one so far with his complete domination of the top lane. Fnatic really doesn't stand a chance. Huni isn't a bad top, but they can't expect to win unless Marin is on his ass.

cant disagree with that. marin was godlike in every game. all they can do is try to bann his fiora/darius (which will be hard on red side) and force him into something different. and with faker still holding back his mains this wont be easy. still i think thanks to the origen matchups fnc can prepare for faker, febiven managed to kill him solo multiple times. febiven can deal with faker in a 1v1. i also have trust in fnc's botlane, even tho i think skt ones is stronger. reignover and huni have a good synergie they can take on marin and bengi. we will see im rdy for this!

Aaaaaand what makes you think Origen has a better chance? Especially with this new Gragas ban

If anything Origen playing against SKT first will mean that Origen loses but will force SKT to show more of their hand, making it potentially easier for Fnatic if they meet in the finals.

SKT lost to EDG at MSI and FNC wiped the floor with EDG. Yeah, SKT did beat FNC in FIVE games at MSI, but FNC is WAY better now.

iamleburk2 votes

Oh hey its you again! Why are you using games from 6 months ago as relevant for this tournament? The skill level of teams has changed drastically since then. EDG is no where near as strong as they were and SKT has improved enormously. FNC also improved enormously. However, SKT have barely revealed anything about their drafts so far, other than a couple pocket picks (renekton and Ryze). FNC have already shown an affinity to dual assassin comps, i feel like SKT will have a plan for that. Honestly i think it will depend more on who gets blue side 1st than anything else.

Side note: FNC have 100% first blood rate (other than the remake), and SKT have yet to lose a second tier turret. Which of those stats do you think will fail first?

Lugg2 votes

MSI was a good benchmark even though it was mid season. SKT MAY have improved slightly since then. FNC has improved enormously.

SKT may have not revealed anything yet, but that's no guarantee that there new picks will succeed. Plus, FNC will have seen pretty much everything once they face KOO.

SKT better not be looking ahead to the Finals yet. OG can definitely beat them if they don't bring their A game.

I think FNC will take a tier 2 before they give up first blood. OG is going to be the first actually great team SKT has faced this tourney. It should be a good gauge where they are. I wouldn't be surprised if SKT loses because they haven't been pushed at all. They could go full on tilt if OG win the first game.

iamleburk1 votes

SKT improved slightly? What? They were doing terrible in spring season, but have now developed into (probably) best team in the world. They lost one B03 all season, I would say that is a massive improvement. If this SKT went back to play at MSI, they would have wiped the floor with EDG. Im not sure you could say the same for FNC, they would probably go about even.

If SKT doesn't bring their A game, OG take a game before SKT turns it on. SKT A game > OG A game, but i would say SKT B game = OG A game. It all depends on the draft and whether SKT pressure enough in the early game. And OG looked like they really got fucked by this Gragas ban

Noooo I mean which team will lose their streak first? Will KOO end FNC's first blood streak or will OG end SKT's tier 2 tower streak? Btw this is counter not by time but by which game; So if OG take a tier 2 in game one and KOO get first blood in game 2, FNC wins, even if the KOO vs FNC series is first.

They won the Spring split. I don't think anyone would call that terrible.

I think OG A game is better than SKT B game.

I think OG will take a tier two first, but getting 1st blood is much easier than getting a tier two.

iamleburk1 votes

SKT were not expected to win the spring split though. They were at best considered 2nd best in Korea behind KOO. The team was still forming then, getting used to playing together. There is a reason i call FNC the Korean SKT. And depends what SKT neglects for their "B game". If its early game manouvres, then ill give it to OG. If its just not revealing any new picks, i would rate them above OG (but both of these are pretty close, like 60/40)

Lugg1 votes

Early game is why I give OG a decent chance at beating them. SKT doesn't play that well when behind.

iamleburk1 votes

Woah what? But OG's early game was extremely lacking in their games up to this point. OG does good if they can go even in the early game, their late game rotations and baron calls are all very solid, but they lack the rotational play and early aggression that makes FNC and SKT strong.

Lugg1 votes

And that is why I give OG a good chance. They took FNC to 5 games in the EU playoffs and FNC plays a lot like SKT in that sense.

iamleburk1 votes

Yea but they only one those first 2 games because they got gangplank. OH and btw, because you were talking about gold share being a useless stat, I just want to point out how weird OG's gold shares are... 3 out of 4 midlaners in the semifinals have a bottom 6 gold share (Faker 17th, Kuro 14th, Febi 12th). These teams also have the biggest gold share for top laners (Marin 1st, Smeb 2nd, Huni 6th). The ADCs also have very similar gold shares (from 25.3 to 25.7) So in general the best teams have mids who do a lot with a little and top laners who destroy with a lot, with very average ADCs.

But then you see Origen; their top laner has one of the lowest shares of top laners at worlds while their mid has the 3rd highest gold share. But its actually not because of their carry mid. It is because of their carry ADC. Neils has the third highest gold share of all the ADCs at world.

In other words, Origen has a very different style of play than anyone else in these semi finals. The only team similar was AHQ, who also funneled everything into their adc, but instead of neglecting top lane they neglected mid lane. The thing is, SKT tore apart AHQ, even when they were looking even AHQ never managed to make it past a second tier turret. I would argue that both styles of play are very powerful these days. Juggernauts + Tahm support ADC carry style , but lots of TPs + extreme rotational play, especially in regards to splitpush, and recent reworks support a top carry style. But now we get to see the best of these two styles collide, and I would argue the top focus is more powerful. But they are very close, and extremely reliant on team composition.

Lugg1 votes

I agree with you that top focus is stronger since they are playing on the top carry meta. However, OG plays that game MUCH better than AHQ does. SKT should beat OG, but OG is good enough to pull an upset.

iamleburk1 votes

I give it 70% to SKT when they are going all out and 50% if they are holding back, because it depends on what they hold back. This is also assuming OG brings their A game like they did against KT, not that shit they were doing against Flash wolves. Also, them losing one game will mean they go all out in the game after. So 12.5% chance SKT 3-0's. I also agree that OG>AHQ, but you got to admit it was impressive watching SKT just roll over AHQ without even trying. And if you want to see their A game: Watch the group stages vs EDG and the OGN Finals vs KT. It was absolutely brutal.

Lugg1 votes

SKT didn't play their A game against EDG, EDG just sucked. If that was SKT's A game, OG will 3-0 them with just their B game.

OG vs KT was great. I think that actually gives OG an edge of sorts since they showed that they can handle stiff competition. SKT hasn't been pushed at all since MSI and that may end up being their Achilles heel.

iamleburk1 votes

EDG sucked, but SKT crushed EDG more handily than FNC did. EDG at least won some teamfights vs FNC. Idk how you can say they would lose based on those results, they looked extremely dominant in those games. The thing is, yes OG can match KT at their best, but how do we know their best is what is going to show up? They played two games against KT; why does everyone seem to forget game 2? same goes for LGD. This is while SKT shits on AHQ at their worst, OG loses to Roccat at their worst.

Lugg1 votes

They way FNC is playing right now, I hope you like pink.

Yfrappefort1 votes

Honestly, I am more scared of Marin and Bengi then Faker. Bengi has shown great synergy with Marin and his map presence and timing for gank is always on point.

It will be very hard for anyone to outwit/outmatch/outrotate them. Of course, Faker is still impossible to ban out and Wolf/Bang are very good as well.

With all that said, SKT would be foolish to underestimate EU teams. They could still beat them.
