Competitive Ruling: Wojciech “Tabasko” Kruza and Łukasz “Puki Style” Zygmunciak

Facts

Wojciech “Tabasko” Kruza and Łukasz “Puki Style” Zygmunciak, both players formerly on the Reason Gaming roster, were found to be account sharing and using a ringer with the goal of gaining a competitive advantage in the Polish ESL Major: Pro-Qualifier tournament. We have found that Kruza was ineligible to play with Reason Gaming in the ESL Mistrzostwa Polski Sezon 10 tournament as per 3.2.3 in the ESL ruleset. Despite this, he has used the account of his teammate, Zygmunciak, to play a match with his team. ESL has issued a ruling to address this incident.

Relevant Rules

The Summoner's Code establishes the standards of behavior for all League of Legends players. Additionally, Section 9.1 Unfair Play of the official Challenger Series ruleset states: The following actions will be considered unfair play and will be subject to penalties at the discretion of CS officials:

• Ringing. Playing under another player’s account or soliciting, inducing, encouraging or directing someone else to play under another player’s account. (9.1.1.6)

Ruling

Kruza and Zygmunciak have violated the spirit of the Summoner’s Code and the Challenger Series ruleset.

Competition Penalties

Kruza is:

• Suspended from participation in the Challenger Series Summer 2015 for the first 4 match days of the Regular Season

Zygmunciak is:

• Suspended from participation in the Challenger Series Summer 2015 for the first 4 match days of the Regular Season

Context

As we’ve made clear before, ringing is a serious offense. It misleads opponents who have prepared for the match, it circumvents roster rules meant to create a fair playing field, and breaks trust with fans and the league. While this infraction occurred outside of Challenger Series, both sharing an account, as well as using someone else’s online identity is a violation of the Summoner’s Code and an act beneath the standard we want to hold all players to, regardless of the competitive environment it occurred in.
