Given how the Sentinels tend to be top of the league and SF5 tend to be near the bottom of the league, and how the game was kind of stompy, I think there may be some aspect of they picked Teemo because they could rather than they felt he was best for a comp, but it worked well enough.

Now, if Teemo shows up a second time, then I'll start really believing Teemo is real.

I saw that game. It was TSM goofing off because neither team could advance at that point and so the plan was to get first blood with Teemo and they didn't really care past that. It was the only game GG.EU won, and one of the casters saw TSM's plan for the game, and it had nothing beyond "First blood Teemo dot dot dot." It was definitely not a game where Teemo was a real pick.

So a bit farther into the Garena season, Teemo is apparently a real thing, and has even drawn a ban.
