Has been one of the best matches so far. Tons of plays, the outcome was never a given, neither team had a clown fiesta moment.

Edit: Leaving behind rivalries and whatnot, you can't deny this was an awesome match.

Oops...Vit won't make it out of group. GenG is the worst team in that group. They're a team with ONE great player in Crown and that's it. C9 and RNG especially should beat Vit

They were not great last year at first. They were very flawed coming into worlds then hit a next gear. Crown is still their only super star and they have not been playing as well as you can see

C9 did not play Sneaky (top 3 ADC in NA) or Jensen (best mid NA) for the first half of the season. They did not have an identity for the first half of the season. They are a different team now. Vit are third in EU. Fnatic and G2 are clearly better than them.

They fell to 6th WITH Sneaky! Or does Spring not matter again? Dropping to 10th is still the team's doing just as it was theirs to get their asses in check to get where they are now.

They worked just as hard as Gen.G but they gave themselves so much downloadable content to ensure their vulnerability. That's another way to think about it. I'm not talking about player strength.

C9 beating Vitality? I ike C9 but you saw their play-ins right? You think they are playing consistently enough to get out of that group? Gen.G was (still is!) one of the favorites to get to the knockouts stage.

Wow, you sound salty as hell. C9 is by far the worst team in this group and they'll be lucky to get a game off of anyone, and that's undeniable fact. I've been saying since the beginning, that VIT is an awful match up for C9, since C9 can't deal with early pressure, as they've already shown in play-ins and in NA against Liquid, who is the only NA team that can play that way. GenG regardless of how they started last worlds is still one of the favourites to take it all. No NA team hasa chance to do that. Stay salty.

This is EXACTLY what you get from a Vitality game! If they play close or play ahead, you can sure as hell expect them to keep pushing the "Go" button til it breaks.

It sucked that 4 of those early kills went on CoreJJ because when I was watching the stats, it may have showed a 2k gold lead but you had to effectively subtract a good thousand on it. Didn't feel too worrisome on that end but still impressive showing.

I was genuinely scared of a massive snowball because of Jizuke suicidal Chronobreaks and those bringing down the team's morale.

But them kicking on and always trying to outmanuver and not retreating after each minimal advantage was really pleasant to watch.

Exactly. The fact that they got back from behind is the most amazing thing. They don't rely on an early game cheese to have a chance at beating LCK. They can match them and even beat them in the macro plays as well. I'mm really surprised by this. Regionally, I didn't feel like EU macro'd that well.

G2 getting the dinger and absolutely smashing with it was a treat to see. Plus I love seeing Urgod and Aatrox being meta. Slow, immobile characters on the world stage. Blessed meta.

I like the idea of such champions being viable, but right now they are so dominant they are polarizing the meta.

ALL world's toplane matchups being Aatrox vs Urgot becomes boring no matter what

That's kind of bound to happen when the stakes are so high.

Pros tend to min-max all that they can, limiting their choices to some set in stone "best of" and pocket picks. They don't have the time and energy to make other picks work in the time between their league and worlds (especially when Rito nerfs some of those picks for no reason at all... cough Aurelion Sol cough).

That is very true... Still, we had much more variety in the past years nonetheless. About ~6 champion on average I'd say.

I don't recall such lack of variety since the endless Elise/kha vs Lee sin in S3 or something

Quality of play is pretty high. (Except from NA lul) Fun picks coming out (Vel'koz, Heimer, etc.) Some good upsets in group stages. Caster trios are good.

But then again if you want more varied picks, Riot will have to balance more around pro play...and we know how people treat that.

Generally, the first day of Worlds has been fine. From the precise strangling of KT over TL, to the back and forth of VIT vs GENG, I'm enjoying this, and it's fun knowing that it doesn't seem as clear cut that there is one best team.

Well, Jizuke messed up at the last assassination attempt and that made it possible for C9 to get both the big objectives.

Still it was an enjoayble match to watch.

So unfortunate. Finally RNG vs Gen.G is heating up, the best outcome for us is RNG losing so it doesn't sit on that 2 wins. I know, it's unlikely but I don't know at this point [slayer-pantheon-popcorn]
