So this new set of 2 games in EU LCS.....

So why is eu in a best of 2 setup and na is best of 3 and korea is best of 3? Also why cant we just go to the Korean system where 2 teams play each day? Makes so much more sense than this ridiculous 2 stream system. I mean seriously it kills it for me. I don't wanna have to watch 2 streams at the same time to watch my favorite teams. Just gimme 6 games a day from 4 teams and be done with it. Riot is running this whole thing into the ground soooooo fast.

Riot is trying both systems out to see which one works best. At some point, both NA and EU will have the same format.

I don't know why Riot bothers to explain these things when they announce them, no one seems to read it.

NA and EU are testing both formats, EU was chosen to Test the BO2 as we as a nation (i know EU isn't a nation but for ease of description) are used to ties from our sports, leagues, cups etc and how the point system(s) tend to work.

whichever one is more successful will be introduced next spring split across the board in NA and EU respectivey, i suspect BO3 will win out, it makes more sense for league in my opinion.

but there is your reason.

I'm pretty sure the reason NA switched to a Bo3 is because they didn't believe that one game was a good indication of how well a team was playing. Other than that, I am not sure why we went with Bo3 instead of Bo2. They were originally talking about Bo2 for NA but I think it was probably just a familiarity thing. Bo2s are weird.

If I'm not mistaken, EU LCS is running on a best of 2 format because European sports as a whole are more used to best of 2 formats while North American sports are more used to best of 3 formats, and Riot wanted to do sets instead of individual matches for this season while still keeping the format similar to what players experienced in other formats.

It looks weird to me too, but there's a method to Riot's madness in this situation.

I think they're just seeing which is better, while not a 'traditional sport' format, best of two's have been used for LoL leagues, most notably in Korea. I wouldn't feel good about ties but I think both are better than the best of one format if for no other reason than that you get to see more games from whatever team you like.

It seems to me Bo2 leaves you wide open for a lot of ties and tie-breakers at the end of the season. I could be wrong, but Bo3 makes more sense to me. Then again, maybe they want tie-breakers for the suspense and such.

I completely agree. There should be a standard best of X setup for all regions and they really really need to stop these simultaneous broadcasts. Viewers are missing out on half the action for no reason. Having the LCS every day is a much, much better solution to the added games than a simultaneous broadcast.

Yeah the Eu point system and standings are meh. Who wants ties when you can have a WINNER instead.
