Riot·Oct 18, 2016·0 votes·21,685 views

In Semifinals, The City That Never Sleeps will be the backdrop for deciding the final two teams that will fight for the world championship title and the Summoner’s Cup. At this part of the Knockout Stage, only four teams remain as we head to historic Madison Square Garden for Semis on October 21-22. If you’re trying to catch up on the Worlds action or you’re new to League of Legends, here’s what you need to know about Semifinals in New York:

What is the Knockout Stage?

The 2016 World Championship is split into two parts - Group Stage and Knockout Stage. The top two teams from each group of the Group Stage move on to the Knockout Stage.

During the Knockout Stage, the tournament transitions to a Best of 5, single elimination bracket. This means moving forward that if a team loses a series then, they’re out of Worlds. The Knockout Stage includes Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and Finals.

Here’s the Knockout Stage bracket so far:

What’s the Semis format?

All Knockout Stage matches including Semis will be Best of 5.

Why does the Semis matter? What are teams playing for?

Korea is collectively rubbing its hands together in anticipation of another Worlds trophy. I've never said this, but Europe, you're our only hope.

ikr, come to think of it i don't think North America ever won worlds RIP way to go TSM, C9 and other insignificant teams

EleshakaiOct 22, 20161 votes

Nobody except Korea has won it since Riot formalized it. S1 was Europe, S2 was LMS I think... but those were relatively small events.

Korea won 3, 4, and 5.

Is there an option to rig the Korean players' mics to automatically translate to another language when they are playing the West? It would give NA and EU some hope if the Koreans had to commucate in Spanish and French.

The Last BreathOct 19, 20161 votes

don't think they be able to translate what they are saying since they speak Korean and English, they probably more comfortably speaking Korean to each other during the games. Not trying to be disrespectful but if you want translate their words you will have to figure out another way like asking someone who is Korean or something like that they be able to translate it for you.

cheers buddy.

It never mentioned whether there would be a place where we could make our signs THERE? Will there be?

MasaanaOct 19, 20161 votes

There were some generic ones at Quarterfinals inside. ROX and EDG both also brought their own signs with markers that you could customize as well.

skt and rox will be a inresting turnout but skt will finish rox off like they did last season but in saying that i think rox deserve their title in the finals for this year against ssg.

EleshakaiOct 20, 20162 votes

Semis Summary: Day one: Korean vs Korean. Day two: stomp.

TrollFan01Oct 18, 20161 votes

H2K and ROX had good runs so they can be proud of themselves. I just don't see them overcoming their personal kryptonite and a surging SSG.

Mak3Lov3N0tWarOct 19, 20161 votes
