Master's dissertation on how to start an esports career as a player and as a team

Hey everyone,

I am Hendrik and I'm currently writing my Master's dissertation in Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

My study is looking specifically into how players and teams can start their esports journey, and the first step is to find out why you play competitive video games, and how you would go about finding a team (or players) to play competitively. It doesn't matter what level you play on, e.g. casual, amateur, semi-pro or pro.

I have created an anonymous survey which should take players less than 2 minutes and teams less than 5 minutes to fill out.

Quick info about me: I am 23 and originally from Germany. The first esports game I played was Counter-Strike: Source (I was a bit too young for the 1.6 era), and FPS games are still my favourite genre although I have spent waaaaay too much money on League already to not like it. I have played in some amateur leagues and tournaments for CS:S, but nothing serious. Right now, my top 3 esports titles to play and watch are League of Legends, CS:GO, and Overwatch.
