Thousands of people watch competitive league play every weekend. Unfortunately, the live chat (on YouTube platform at least) is not moderated at all. As a result you see boosters offering their services, revelations about hitler and his "great" deeds, quotes from bible, ocassional chants to build a massive wall in the comments section and random spam. I already wrote a suggestion as a private message and in a form of discussion on the channel where I was suggesting:

  • Assigning a couple rioters to moderate live chat
  • If that's not an option, assigning a FEW (not couple) spectators to do it. I've seen a few people who are fairly common on the streams (Especially if certain teams are playing)
  • If for some reason that's not an option either, AT LEAST add phrases that shouldn't be in the comments and disable long spam comments (That'll cut off junk messages greatly)

With all that said, I'm sure someone will have other ideas so I'm creating this discussion too. Or maybe it's completely opposite and you think live chat is a heaven for discussions of on-going games, in which case (if you watch eSports) vote in the poll whether you think live chat requires moderation or not.

Thanks for your opinions and replies. An avid eSports viewer, Rainoth
