why isnt NA and CH at iem katowice?

Well considering Korea wins each year's Worlds winning a prize pool of more than double of waht they would win at IEM if the participate but instead just play, scrim, and develop more time in their own region for preparation for Worlds that they will most likely win again this year. Worry about WINNING your own region first before wanting international exp first is not only smart but more of a "get out of jail free card" as winning Spring split or getting a good foothold on your own region first is the smarter route.

1. Besides the prize pool the tournament is meaningless, again, you can get more exp for the teams that are involved or you can just watch from a far without giving anything away yourself. For example would be SKT, SSG, and EDG teams to just sit and learn from these up and coming regions without playing themselves. Instead they see their opponents best plays and ability without showing their cards under their sleeves.

2. "Certain" teams was what I said but for most teams that do play in these optional tournaments come back during the second half of the split or the next split(summer) tend to have a rougher time than before. What I said about "certain" teams coming back is true. TSM - Won the 2015 Spring Split participated in tournaments came in 5th place at MSI, barely made the playoffs in the summer and on average had around 41 min games with less kills but more deaths, less towers,dragons,barons etc. SKT - Participated in most of the 2015 optional tournaments and looked so "shaky" most ( cough cough) casters thought they wouldn't even make the Finals because of the EDG lost. Most of what I said about point 2 are my own opinions that are covered in some truth behind it.

• Subjective and opinionated but all n all again other than $ it's too early in the first split to think about Worlds or other regions as most teams that were apart of IEM might not even make it to Worlds so while you do gain some EXP you must first

1. Finish the next 1-2 months for NA it's 4 more weeks of Spring Split plus another month of playoffs to even reach MSI or other international events.

Facts " CLG came back after MSI a tournament that is mandatory but all together looked bad during the summer split and playoffs" That is why most fans were upset that CLG got to go to Worlds instead of Immortals because of how shaky CLG were looking during the Summer. " SKT again wasn't IEM but MSI the #1 LCK team went back to Korea and got eliminated by KT in the playoffs allowing The Rox Tigers to win the Split Playoffs and allowing themselves be the # 1 Seed"

Now imagine of IEM was mandatory like MSI is where teams have no choice but to participate half way into a split without even finishing the split.

" It's gets leaked" TSM's and SKT's scrims got leaked a week before Worlds, IDK by who or how etc but it is what it is.
You also gotta think that teams from the same region talk about their scrims with their own regions opponents and why shouldn't they? Sure there's only 1 winner in each tournament but there's still regional pride so you can bet your shinny penny SKT talked to SSG about their scrims with TSM who were SSG's opponents at Worlds.
Help eliminate the different teams from the other regions first then worry about facing each other later.
