Power Rankings #19 -- Vici Gaming

Vici Gaming Region: China (LPL) Roster
  • Top: Carry
  • Jungle: DanDy
  • Mid: Hetong
  • ADC: Vasili
  • Support: Mata
After qualifying for the LoL Pro League in the expansion tournament and breaking through the more stacked of the two groups, Vici Gaming announced a few exciting acquisitions. First and foremost, the team placed World Champions Choi “DanDy” Inkyu and Cho “Mata” Sehyoung on their starting roster. These two players together were unstoppable as part of the World Championship-winning Samsung White. Perhaps the most overlooked acquisition by VG is ex-Samsung coach Yoon “Homme” Sung-young. Homme’s experience within Samsung as both a player and coach will likely prove a boost for an organization new to competing in LPL. The one real question mark remaining, then, is whether the team’s laners can flesh out the talent of DanDy and Mata. Wang “Carry” Zujing was one of the strongest top laners from the LSPL last year, which arguably had a higher level of top laners across the board than the LPL. Riven was often a guaranteed ban against the team, even when she fell out of favor in the meta. Li “Vasilii” Weijun picked up a great deal of accomplishments playing for LMQ in North America, but with the AD carry talent in LPL incredibly stacked this Spring, he might find himself outmatched. Similarly, Wang “HeTong” Bin was a somewhat lackluster mid laner for Vici Point Gaming, and he might be out of his depth in the LPL. This placement is especially conservative though, since VG hasn’t appeared in any tournaments with their new roster this offseason. With Edward Gaming making a convincing case to retain their domestic control, it’s hard to gauge VG. DanDy and Mata’s vision-centric style should continue to outplay their competition, but if the roster doesn’t click, VG’s carries might not have the power to back their jungle and support’s deep warding forays. Success against their Week 1 LPL opponents, OMG and EDG, could easily catapult VG through the standings. Who will be next on our Pre-Season Power Rankings? There is no way gambit is better than Vici. These rankings are Shit.

That's horribly wrong. Best jungler and best support at 19th place? And they've even got a strong top and one of the best adcs in the NA in their roster..i think they deserve at least 10th

lol just by seeing a team with Danny+Mata placed under Gambit, I already know this rank doesnt make any sense. At least not on this one.

Ok, for those of you who are saying the list is shit, think about it. You're basing this all on last season, I am not saying last season doesn't mean anything, but in the pro scene, pure talent isn't enough to win, look at SKT last year. We also haven't watched ANY of the teams play, other than the Koreans. the people making this are also taking into account team synergy and play, not just overall talent, and we wont see that until we actually see them play.

Vici off to an 0-4 start... All the outrage (!!!) that they were ranked too low, and it looks like they shouldn't be ranked at ll. By the end of a split or two, I'm sure they'll have figured some things out, but as of right now? They are not a top-20 team.

I'd be happy rating this lineup lower than Elements, and a few other teams are looking quite hot (Liquid look kinda awesome for this season, UoL have been great in all the games I've ever seen them play - although their relative inexperience might bite them.) - but rating a team with this lineup below the Gambit and TSM rosters seems ridiculous.

We really don't know how good Vici is but we have seen with some major success this is just a preliminary thing due to us not knowing how good they actually are
