After qualifying for the LoL Pro League in the expansion tournament and breaking through the more stacked of the two groups, Vici Gaming announced a few exciting acquisitions. First and foremost, the team placed World Champions Choi “DanDy” Inkyu and Cho “Mata” Sehyoung on their starting roster. These two players together were unstoppable as part of the World Championship-winning Samsung White.
Perhaps the most overlooked acquisition by VG is ex-Samsung coach Yoon “Homme” Sung-young. Homme’s experience within Samsung as both a player and coach will likely prove a boost for an organization new to competing in LPL. The one real question mark remaining, then, is whether the team’s laners can flesh out the talent of DanDy and Mata.
Wang “Carry” Zujing was one of the strongest top laners from the LSPL last year, which arguably had a higher level of top laners across the board than the LPL. Riven was often a guaranteed ban against the team, even when she fell out of favor in the meta.

Li “Vasilii” Weijun picked up a great deal of accomplishments playing for LMQ in North America, but with the AD carry talent in LPL incredibly stacked this Spring, he might find himself outmatched. Similarly, Wang “HeTong” Bin was a somewhat lackluster mid laner for Vici Point Gaming, and he might be out of his depth in the LPL.
This placement is especially conservative though, since VG hasn’t appeared in any tournaments with their new roster this offseason. With Edward Gaming making a convincing case to retain their domestic control, it’s hard to gauge VG. DanDy and Mata’s vision-centric style should continue to outplay their competition, but if the roster doesn’t click, VG’s carries might not have the power to back their jungle and support’s deep warding forays. Success against their Week 1 LPL opponents, OMG and EDG, could easily catapult VG through the standings.
