Worlds LIVE Pass
Hello everyone :)
Who here has attended a LoL live tournament before?? puts hand up
Awesome! I myself, attended League of Legends at Wembley in my home city during a split of the European LCS once, as well as attending the group stages of Worlds this year. Prior to this year, I tried attending the World Finals when it was held in Berlin. Sadly, I was beaten by many re sellers, as well as fans, like myself, who only wanted to attend the final (which, I'm on the side of those who attended other games to have priority here)!
That's why I would like Riot to consider 2 options. The first is pretty standard (and they may do this already, but I'm not certain they do), and that is to link ticket sales to a level 30+ League of Legends account, so a person may only purchase up to 2 tickets (maybe even 1) per account. This will not completely solve the issue of re sellers, but it will put a dent in their efforts.
The second option is my more favored option, and is to create a Worlds Live Pass. A ticket that allows admission to every single match day across the entire tournament. It would be the face value of every match day ticket, and you would keep the same seat row/number throughout the entire tournament (this limits the total number of tickets possible to the capacity of the smallest arena used, although I would expect far less of these tickets to be available as to still allow those who cannot make/afford all games to still attend on single day tickets of course)! '
What this does allow, is for those who are hardcore fans and really want to cheer their favorite teams on, to allow them the best chance of attending the later stages of the tournaments, whilst still allowing fans to attend single days for a nice day out watching LoL.
The biggest issue I see with this, is that the finals stadium always holds far more seats than the group stages, which means that not many of these tickets could be available if you wanted to ensure enough single day tickets for the group stages to be available.
Hopefully this resonates with some of you, with Worlds being held in Europe again next year, I really hope that I don't see too many tickets on re seller sites for £400+ again and that some real fans get hold of them :)
