Banning new champs from ranked for 24 hours

Just lost a game with Gnar on my team. We had both bot and mid lane won, but top lane had 4 kills by the 10 minute mark. Gnar was used top, and since the champion was released only 3 hours before, the player was inexperience. Clearly no one can master a champion well enough to play ranked in such a short time, only adding further frustration to elo hell. I would like to drum up support for banning new champs for at least 24 hours from release for use in ranked play.
