Hey Riot.....
TLD: I rant about not liking how the LCS and its players seem to be giving the full attention of Riot, using the Harrowing as an example. Don't like how LCS was giving priority over a international holiday. This is what I want more of: http://promo.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/harrowing-2014/ This is what I wish would just leave me and my solo que and skin desires alone: http://worlds.lolesports.com/en_US/worlds/articles/skt-rises-above-koo-tigers-3-1-become-2015-world-champion?utm_source=na_pvp_en_client&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=2015winner
Each and every day I log in to play a game of League, generally solo que, but sometimes with friends. As do most players. I struggle through a fairly low ello, hopping to one day reach plat or higher, and play ranked with some of my other friends and a more filtered environment. As do most payers. Then I finish my game to go search through the shop, hey! It's Halloween! I check through the shop to find no new skins, so I hit the official forums to find teasers for the harrowing, but no announced, but only another story, that follows the Bilgewater update story style, and give it a read. Cool, but not nearly as cool as the 2013 or 2015 Harrowing events. No cinematic. Then go back to the shop, seeing if any of the old Halloween skins are available. Nope. And so i feel pretty damn pissed off. As do pretty much all players. I am not challenger. I am not going to be. So being in worlds is never going to be in my sights. I am a student, i am not going to afford going off to worlds, and visiting the LCS, nor do I plan to. And you know what? Its great that a game I like had manage to make such a big player base and competitive environment to hold global E-Sports tournaments and really make a name for E-Sports and competitive video games. But whenever I watch them it's through someone like https://www.youtube.com/user/iFunzioChannel or https://www.youtube.com/user/DeoNade, because I would rather play the game then watch people make me look bad at the game. In computer class, our teacher always puts the LCS up on the big-screen, and despite that most of us play the game, none of us watch it even when its directly in front of us. Point being, watching the LCS should be something we can do on our free time, not something Riot wants to shove down our throats and make us care about more then the game itself. But what has become real frustrating is how that E-Sports event has been more important the the company then the average player base. You have several hundred million players that aren't a part of the LCS, and about a thousand that are. With each patch and champion update, its feels like you are making the game significantly more focused on those thousand players then your millions of casual players, the Harrowing as a perfect example. I never checked in to the LCS to see what it's views are like, but I am willing to bet it is less then a 50th of the total player base, so why is it taking priority? I don't get it Riot, I don't. And I don't see how most players could. And maybe I'm just mad because my Halloween sales and skins turned out to not exist. But I don't think that's very unreasonable.
