Need a spoiler-free front page for lolesports

I'm sure I'm not the first person to notice that the front page of lolesports has spoilers right when you get there. I don't know if it's a problem with the titles of articles "This team beats that team like THIS" or if the articles just shouldn't be shown on the front page, but every time that I try to look at a VOD (because I'm not able to watch the matches live) I have to cover my screen because I got a spoiler the first time I visited the site. I don't know if this is just whiny, but I feel like this should have been foreseen as a problem sooner and changed so that everyone would be able to enjoy matches even though they aren't live. Thoughts?

Hey everyone, totally agree that the spoiler-free experience wasn't optimal off the bat. We're currently working on having lolesports.com/vods redirect to the VODs page on the Worlds site as well as promoting that URL throughout the broadcast for people who are only able to catch a portion of the show. In the meantime, the best thing to do would be bookmark this URL and share it with your friends.

Thanks!

Also noticed the World's tab in the in-game client is spoiler filled as well. Like I said, I don't mean to just complain but I feel like this should have been thought of before.

I agree with this, but I don't think its realistic, they need to have articles on the page. But I do want them to hire somebody competent to upload VODS. I was trying to watch the FNatic cloud 9 game 4 hours after it ended and got the message "This vod hasn't been uploaded yet". It is constantly like that. One event they NEVER got around to uploading the vods, I remember, until like 3 weeks later when I made a thread complaining. Somebody is not doing their job. Vods should be up ~15 minutes after the game ends, without exception.

Moving the vods to a new url was frustrating. I didn't even realize the vods existed on the world site as I was trying to avoid spoilers last Thursday. I started watching the full rebroadcast, which was a choppy mess.

I've figured it out since, but the first couple of days was really annoying when I expected things to be in the same place on lolesports.com and they weren't.

Can't upvote this enough. The best part about watching c9 games this worlds is that I'm never sure if they are gonna win or not. Makes every team fight get more and more suspenseful as the game goes on.

They need to stop with those titles all together. They show up on the boards pages too, and I think it's killing any desire to actually watch the games for me. After all, I know who won because Riot themselves threw it in my face, why should I spend 40 minutes watching the match. Give me the 3 minute highlight reel and call it a day.

You are not being whiney. When I went on vacation and couldn't watch live the page annoyed the crap outta me.

Have you tried watching on a spoiler free site like here: http://lol.unspoilr.com/#home? You can't watch live, but the vods are usually up within an hour or two and it is completely spoiler free.

I just go to the RiotGames twitch channel at 4pm and hide the side chat window... That way I get to watch without spoilers.

Can I just say the timing for broadcast and rebroadcast is really sucky though? Being on the NA west coast, the live broadcast happens too early and during my work hours, and the 4pm broadcast is still during my work hours...

I guess only people who don't work 9-6 jobs get to watch worlds...

" I don't know if it's a problem with the titles of articles "This team beats that team like THIS""

  • Articles are titled like this already and have been for a long time. However, you could try and make them more elusive... then people will click on them wondering what they are about (and complain that it spoiled the game because they didn't know what they are clicking on). People can always complain about something.

As a few examples: "Rundown: Junior advances in a thriller Dale Earnhardt Jr. managed to squeak into the next round of the Chase by the narrowest of margins. He may be primed to make a real run now, writes Bob Pockrass in the Monday Rundown."

  • Rundown: Pain Gaming still alive in shocker

"Falcons not getting ahead of themselves after 4-0 start"

  • C9 not getting ahead of themselves after 3-0 start

These could be considered spoilers, but this is how sports writers write articles - to be engaging and informative. It isn't remotely realistic to hide all the outcomes content until everyone has had a chance to see a game or event. Whenever you go to ESPN.com or watch their TV channel, you see sports scores constantly ticking across and being updated.

They fixed it! The esports website is now completely spoiler free for week two. They removed all information from the site, because riot takes preventing spoilers seriously.
