I've been playing this game since it was launched. I was playing this game when new updates were so bad I had to uninstall the game and reinstall the entire client because it would completely bug out. I cannot believe how soft people are that play this game now. In the real world, people get angry and say mean things. Then they calm down and move on with their lives. Sometimes you might even be in the same area where bad words are said. Are all of you going to completely shut down and need to go to a safe space? Grow the fu%k up. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS CYBER BULLYING. Stop being a victim. Real bullying occurs when someone has to go to a particular place and they cannot get away from their attacker. In a video game, you simply hit mute and the problem goes away. NOONE makes you sit there and read what other people are typing. You are being a sheeple. The ONLY reason to report someone in this game is if they are intentionally feeding or straight up afk farming and not helping the team at all. IF SOMEONE SAYS MEAN WORDS YOU JUST MUTE THEM AND MOVE ON WITH YOUR LIFE. STOP BEING IDIOTS.

I know why I got banned, read my argument. Too many people cry and think rude behaviour is toxic. There's a huge difference between someone saying pull your head out of your @ss and we can win this game. And full on raging and inting.

It's not going to change anything. I got banned and I lost a 10 year old account and thousands of dollars because people's feelings get hurt. I am medically retired military tho and I come from an environment where people don't have super thin skin and can take a few harsh words. In a competitive environment people get worked up and say mean things. It doesn't make them toxic or bad. But in a game where Riot needs to cater to everyone to make more money, it makes business sense to punish any small infraction. In most games I'm in now a days people are too afraid to even chat, for fear they might get reported and auto banned. This is what the game I used to love has turned in to. My point is there are always gonna be assholes in the world, simply muting them and moving on is better than being a victim.

this isn't the military though, this is an online game that common, ordinary people of ALL types of mentality play.

Because betas just want to always smooth the waters. They are afraid of confrontations and won't stand up for themselves or the people they love unless they are backed into a corner. So yes, to most alpha males, being called beta is pretty bad.

If they're trying to copy the notion of an alpha wolf then they'd only surround themselves with betas and ignore other alphas. That goes directly against how the phrase is being used, where the person using it tends to have no respect from the people they're calling betas but wants to be surrounded by other alphas.

What's more, these so called "alpha males" all seem to only bring up "betas" when they've lost control of a situation, but by losing control of the situation they'd no longer be the "alpha male" of the group. When an alpha wolf is beaten by a beta, the beta becomes the new alpha, so by the time the "alpha male" calls someone else a beta they've already lost their alpha status, being demoted to beta themselves.

Queue some retreating comment where you try to deny that by your own standards you're a beta.

You're copying others arguments, phrases, and excuses without thinking about what they actually mean. Ironically, this makes you one of the "sheeple" and "betas" that you so despise, which in turn makes you a hypocrite. You have different words or phrases that get under your skin, but you still have them. Rather than realizing that and deciding to refrain from what would provoke someone else, you insist that they be the ones to change what gets them.

Yes, some people do take what others say too personally, but you don't get a permaban because of those few people.

My original argument in case you didn't read it, is that people are playing victims in an environment where they can simply mute the offender and it's not a problem anymore. They would rather sit there and receive some sort of "cyber bullying" that they could easily end themselves.

They can mute the offender which protects them from further harassment by that player, yes. However, by the time you have to mute someone they've already gotten to you, you're just minimizing the damage at that point.

The report and punishment system isn't to defend the one player from that one game, it's to make it so the next guy doesn't need to mute.

If you want to take a more extreme example, why has the US military ever gone over seas? They can defend the US by just patrolling the borders. As I understand it, they leave US shores to fight what they believe will eventually threaten the US or it's allies. The same principle (to a lesser scale) is what's at place with the punishment system, where the mute button is defense at the border and taking a more offensive stance to prevent future harm is what the punishment system is for.

Yes, some people blow things out of proportion, but you didn't get permabanned because of them. You got it for regularly exceeding what the average player considers ok.

A true alpha does not, by definition, need to insult others. They are superior and they know it. They wait and let their actions prove why the have the throne, rather then preventing challenges, they encourage it. Betas are always looking for the chance to weaken another, because they know they are inferior, and need the edge. But all this is moot, as humans have a significantly more complex hierarchy then any other animal we know of/study.

I think this is just an extension of the attack on male behaviour in general. Being a male has become demonized in western society and the term "toxic masculinity" makes me roll my eyes every time.

Either way I'm done venting now, cupcakes and snowflakes have taken over and I don't apologize for my behaviour or getting banned. I'm aggressive in rl, in video games, and in everything I do.

In the real world, you take responsibility for your actions, where the price can often be unproportionally large to the offence you give out. Today you either get ignored and laughed at behind your back, settle with the attacked, pay fines or serve jails depending on how severe an offence is, in the older world and in many parts of the current world you can even potentially die from it when the offended simply decided to pull out their big boys. What you've described isn't the real world, it's called living in a bomb shelter and berating others through a microphone.

Good for you, but I think you're just acting tough.

When someone comes to you and say that they will rape your loved ones, they want you go and suicide, they insult your intelligence and mocking around like punks, they condemn where you are from and curse your family, they disrespect your lineage and spout shit to your ancestors, and all sorts of nasty things that are presented in League's chat, I highly doubt you will just walk away like nothing happened.

Words are very powerful. The most traumatising and long-lasting effect on a person's psyche are usually from words, because wounds heal, physical pains can be ignored with enough training, but minds heal much slower, its needs can not be ignored and its wounds are far more easily re-opened. The most powerful forms of assault, abuse and bullying, is often words. A kid being beaten 24/7 may grow up being violent, but they can also be very empathising as a result, but if a person is told that they're trash and should go die 24/7, they will only grow up being completely fked in the head. One can not underestimate the power of words.

Words are also very context sensitive, and different people may not see the same context within the same words. That's why you while no need to censor yourself, but you have to pay some mind on what others may be offended by and not iron-fist it in when they are. No matter how tough of an act you wanna pull and say "nah idc", you will, when one of your old scars are triggered. So be a considerate of others a little bit, will you?

How are you jumping from being rude to people in a competitive manner to people raping my loved ones? I'm short, blunt, and often rude to people in competitive situations because we are competing. It's nothing personal. But people take it super personal and I get banned for it.
