Can people explain why they downvote?

I have started some discussions over topics I've been interested in and topics currently on my mind. However, when I've asked questions about the opinions of other players sometimes I see downvotes and I try to ask why but never get any replies as to why. Why is this? I am not frustrated at them or anything, but I want to hear explanations when they are almost never given. It's like, if you think I am wrong, downvote if you want then discuss why, and not just downvote and disappear.

Edit: Well, this is a very unexpected coincidence...

Some players cant think of reasons to defend their arguments so they just downvote.

Which tends to be the players that think mages are busted when they are absolutely not.

There is only one class of mages that are busted and it’s the battle mages. But they just lump them all together cause “Ryze, Cass, Vlad, Kennen broken wah.” Its like complaining about tanks when the champs they bitch about are really bruisers (Darius Garen are prime examples)

If mages as a whole were so busted since season 7, Riot would have nerfed the entire class and their items already. Honestly don’t worry too much about the circlejerk, Riot will never listen to them anyways [slayer-pantheon-popcorn]

Because they don't agree with you.

Then there's the core of 5 trolls that have been here plaguing the forums for 7+ years that disagree with everyone to put them down and feel better about themselves

Yeh it really tilts me when people downvote my posts without even reading them fully or asking questions in the comments

I return to find 56 downvotes despite this only being a question of why people downvote without leaving a comment? Is this even real? [sg-ahri-1]
