Most of the posts in Gameplay are vitriolic salt posts indistinguishable from shitposts and if not the posts themselves then the comments on them often will be. Gameplay+ just got shutdown because it saw so little use because people mostly come here to bitch and moan about Yasuo, Lee Sin, Vayne, or whatever else is popular to complain about. Actual discussion is often drowned out by people who have no interest in actually discussing balance and often when a Rioter comments anywhere they're inundated with replies from those same salty whiners.

Is there proper, good discussion going on here? Yeah of course, but like Riot August said himself there's just better places to find actually good, proper feedback. Places where you don't have to wade through a river of shit to get to it.

Oh, it very much was. They can respond to critical posts, that are written coherently and with some thought behind them, but they refuse to do that.

I understand if reds don't want to read those pure hate posts, but constructive criticism is too met with silence. I mean, look at those threads with proposed changes to Kayle. Reds should be there, to clarify some of our issues. But, they prefer to use reddit and twitter instead.

Is that behavior caused by toxicity on boards? Partially yes, there's no doubt about that. BUT, there are different reasons too, at least as far as i can see. On reddit, they have to log in once and they can respond to whatever they want on any board, which is what August is doing. On twitter, they can say whatever they want, and not be associated with Riot as much as they would here. Finally, there's the infamous reddit echo chamber, that gets behind most of what Riot puts out, no matter what issues this might cause.

They have responded to criticism threads before though. They still do come into discussions on occasion. Often what happens is they browse the Boards to see what people are saying about things but avoid posting here for various reasons already mentioned. I know this because Rioters themselves have said as much.

Besides, fact is that there's just not as much actually good discussion happening here. It's just too much shit to deal with here. If you go to the PBE Boards (which August points out is much better) actually good feedback is posted and responded too, even when official response is disappointing but plenty of good stuff happens too. I myself have aided in feedback and improvements to content before it goes live by posting things I find on the PBE Boards. Riot DOES listen and DOES want feedback and DOES want to improve their work, this place is just not a good place for it.

Thats perfectly fits whats the OP talking about tho and we all know that riot themself prefers reddit for years now since reddit has soo much better..............censorship thats right i forgott what i wanted to say there for a sec. And thats becasue maybee we dont get as much attention wich im gratefull tho othervise a bunch of Hashashin and Yasuo hater would balance the game.

And also this is the perfect example that mindless hiveminds will downvote anything even remotly having some counterargument.

The "Reddit praises everything" lie is constantly spouted by people who don't go on the subreddit. People are constantly memeing about prestige skins, yelling about "5 damage lul" on karthus, constantly being angry about the meta, etc.

Just because every post isn't "literally fire the balance team" like it is on the boards doesn't mean people accept everything riot does unquestioningly.

Oh please. If a company for profit can’t take any and all sorts of criticism it is destined to fail. They are a for profit company. They should not be having their feelings over being told some nonsense like “bla bla bla your champ design is shit” or “wtf why’d you have to turn the lore into trash.”

It’s their own incapacity that makes them establish a forum that they themselves find to be useless. Either it isn’t actually useless and they’re too afraid to stand up and actually communicate for fear of people not stroking their ego, so they just lurk, or it is useless and they’re wasting their money maintaining and misleading a decently large group of customers. They should delete boards for good and move to reddit officially if they only want people who suck up to them, telling them that their skin designs, their lore, their balancing, and their e$port$ is great.

Rioters should stop behaving like high school cliques that get so offended if you so much as tell them that they don’t necessarily look pretty.

I don't think anyone is genuinely surprised by it.

Consensus around the boards, as you will often see on any of these threads regarding the Riot August situation, is that the Boards is terrible and it's no secret.

Having the opinion that the boards is terrible is fine, nobody can control what others think.

However, calling it out and indirectly insulting almost everyone that uses the boards, including the ones that genuinely want to improve them, is just disheartening.
