What is wrong with the French boards ATM???

While it doesn't have anything to do with these NA boards, I still ask you guys to hear me out. I'll put some context on what is happening so everyone can understand and make up his own mind on the situation.

tl;dr : I've been banned twice from the boards in less than a month for dubious reasons and all my threads are getting deleted, no matter what. None of them contained anything forbidden as per the rules and guidelines of the boards. The public reception was really good too. The last ban lasted 1 day while the current one lasts for 1 whole week.

A few times ago was a crisis in the french volunteer program. Instead of fixing the issue, which the whole volunteer team was about to, some Rioters decided to end the program as it was and to plan on building it again but differently, which is not done yet.

Instead of leaving our French boards unmoderated they apparently decided to ask two french speaking volunteers of another region to monitor our boards. We don't even know their nicknames.

Days after I decided to open a thread in General Discussions about how to make the best pizza ever. It was aimed at being a fun Question-Answer type of thread with humour and usable knowledge. The positive votes rapidly gathered. The thread got deleted by the mod team because it was unrelated to LoL. I waited some day and decided to take another shot at it but to add a lot of LoL references in my thread, which even added humour to the mix (which was a nice thing). This time it was about making the perfect soup. Thread deleted, got banned 1 day.

I tried to contact the mod team, impossible to get in touch with them and my thread got again deleted and the popup message told me to contact the support instead, which I did. The support did its best to assist me, contacted one of the rioters in charge of the new (undone) volunteer program and all they got back is whatever decision they make there is no recourse, no matter what, even if you're blindly following the rules.

Fast-forward to yesterday, I decided to make yet another thread on DG, this time fully about LoL. I decided to make a multi-part story about Tristana going back to Bandle City and a spiritual menace putting her world in danger. 30 minutes later, thread deleted and account banned for 1 week for "negative attitude".

I can provide screenshots of the actual threads to show you guys that it contained 0 offensive stuff.

I simply do not understand what is happening and I feel helpless about the situation...

Upon further review of this case, the moderators have determined that your thread was a continuation of problematic behaviour on the Boards. The specific thread in question contained a message, spelled out through the first letter of each sentence:

"La modération se fout de notre gueule"

which as you know, means "Moderation doesn't care about us", but in more disrespectful way.

In conclusion, the thread was disrespectful and was posted in the wrong sub-board. The suspension was applied after years of prior history of problematic behaviour.

I appreciate you reaching out on the North American Boards, and I hope I was able to resolve your inquiry regarding the French Boards. Hopefully, the French moderators will be able to address your inquiries directly in the near future. Have a good day!

I gotta say, that official sass is glorious.

Problematic behaviour? Such as asking for a clarification on the rules after getting two threads deleted and my account banned for no apparent reason? For clarification, I'm talking about the first one.

?

Oh, you mean when I was banned because I made a word play with a famous quote from a famous historical comedian, which the mod admitted having messed up? Or when I was banned for linking a song on youtube on a spam thread because they apparently banned everyone that had posted on that thread, no matter how much they participated in the spam (hint : I posted once)? Or maybe the ban that me and the mod simulated together on my account so we could test a possible security issue on the board?

Or you mean that problematic behavior that got me into 0 trouble for quite some time despite posting on the boards every single day?

So yeah, I once called a stalker a "son of a bitch" and this was wrong, and I paid for that. I'm not sure what this has to do which today's situation.

It means "Moderation mocks us". And while it's more vulgar than "La modération se moque de nous" it's in no way more disrespectful. I'm also quite intrigued because most people weren't able to decypher that hidden message even when they had a clear explanation on how to do so. And the mod team apparently took the time to read and review my thread, out of all others, so carefully that they found it? How does it work? It took them 30 minutes for that all the while actually reported weird LoL unrelated threads with insults and %%%%philiac references could stay in the same category for days?

If they wanted to discuss they would have already. They don't even have a name, and we have to follow rules that aren't even written anywhere. What is this even???

I'm sorry Wuks, I really appreciate your work and what you're doing. You're kind of the man the boards needed. But you haven't resolved anything here besides providing an oddly wrong translation from the sentence "La modération se fout de notre gueule" and no explanation on why my account got banned in the first place. I might add that I'm not pleased at how I've supposedly had a problematic behavior for years when it's just plain wrong. And I truly doubt that my two first threads and their overall really good reception where "problematic" to begin with. And I'm again sorry, but considering that there is no way to contact the mod team there I feel obligated to do that here.

As you mentioned, the French volunteer program is in an uncertain state at the moment, so they cannot directly address your concerns. I’m taking on that role for the time being, until there is a change. I’ll bring up your response with the moderator and have a response for you, hopefully within a reasonable amount of time.

Take all your time, and thanks for what you're doing!

Hi Wuks,

I'm a former mod of the french boards, and I personaly applied some of the suspensions mentionned, most noting being the (what was supposed to be) one-month ban for the "son of a bitch". I'd just like to add some perspective over those "years of prior history of problematic behaviour", as I was on the mod side at that time about two/three years ago.

Most of DearPear's "problematic behaviour" was unfairly handled. To sum it up, one moderator in the team had something against DearPear, and whenever he came (once every six months), DP was banned. The bans were quickly reverted, of course, but there was (is?) no way to mark them as "unfair and shouldn't be taken into consideration". More, like you're probably aware of it, there was no way to actually unban someone, the only way to do so was to ban him for one hour, which reduced the ban to one hour. But it still appears on moderation history as a "ban", not as an "unban" (we marked them as such in the comments, but... Who reads those?). So, each time he was unfairly punished, there were two more bans on the history that he didn't deserve.

There was also that time where a moderator misunderstood him (This time it wasn't malicious it was a legit mistake). Two more "unfair bans".

There was also that time where he came to me to tell me he found a possible weak point in the ban system and asked me to ban him for a day so he could test it, after which I reverted the ban to a one hour again. That's two more.

Etc.

In total, I think that the only action on his account that is justified (at least was when I left the program a year ago) is the one month ban mentionned earlier. Other than that, DearPear clearly was never a problematic member.

Greetings, I’ll be able to look into this in a few hours. Please bear with me, as I will require your patience on the matter.

Thank you.

Admittedly, the removal looks odd; I’ve reached out to the moderator who applied the action for context.
