Why Remove this Feature?
I never saw an explanation for removing Discussion View from GD. I can’t stand Chronological view, and thus, a whole section I used to frequent is now one of the worst in my eyes.
What gives?

Discussion view actually was not on GD before. A lot of GD's culture goes back to the old forums, and then later they were on the boards but still separate. It is only recently that GD has been on the front page of the boards like they are now. However, the people of GD have preferred to keep chronological view, and thus it has remained.
In other words, Discussion view wasn't taken away from GD. It was simply added to most sub-boards but NOT GD.
Slight clarification to LF's comment: GD actually originally had discussion view; they asked for it to be removed (until recently, it also had no "Hot" or "Best" sorting for threads, for the same reason).
