This is a tricky one.
On the one hand, having a variety of discussions is, in my opinion, good for the community. On the other hand, how do you enforce this? Do you delete every thread on a topic? Do we have the moderation team put in the hours to read everything and make discretionary decisions on which ones have merit? Do we remove posts if a better post comes along? At what point is a discussion on one aspect of a topic different enough from a discussion on a different aspect of the same topic to warrant being allowed to remain?
Additionally, GD has always been a bit more lax about that sort of thing -- I think any attempt to curate GD like that would meet a ton of pushback, and likely not be worth it. I'd be more inclined to say we should take a look if it were, say, Gameplay. While I understand (and am in agreement) that it can be frustrating, I'm not convinced it's worth alienating much of the GD community by trying to overly curate their experience.
