Apologies

I just received a short (24 hour) ban for some of my posts on the forums.

In game I'm very tame compared to my forum personality which is largely outspoken and "cynical". Not using this as an excuse; but every time I log into the forums I see some pretty rampant, absurdly toxic posts. Admittingly I just wrote this off as the forums were not policed and/or the rules were separate from the in game rules (which I think any rational human being could possibly believe because toxicity in game influences that game; toxicity on the forums just leads to non constructive conversation which is far less "important" in the grand scheme of things).

That being said, none of it excuses some of my posts. I apologize to moderation for having to spend time dealing with some of my posts and having had their time wasted when it could have been better spent on more important tasks, and I apologize sincerely to any players that may have been offended. I used no hate speech or anything gravely offensive, just massive passive aggressiveness that was unacceptable by any standard.

My honor rating in game better reflects my general demeanor, and I will work on (and probably) never post on the forums again, since some of the posting done is clearly to bait out said behavior, and I got suckered into it (unlike in-game).

Again, sincere apologies to staff/players/everyone.

Didn't even know people could get bans for forum posts, do you know how bad it can get?

Hey there, Cynikul!

Apology totally accepted, and appreciated.

Don't feel you need to totally avoid posting in the future though -- just perhaps take a look at the tone of the thread. There's some bait posting, definitely, but there are also a bunch of really good discussions on the boards, if you still want to participate.

If you DO see rampant, toxic posts that are sticking around, definitely report them -- we're a small team compared to the posting community, and we rely on those reports to be able to properly take actions. You're also welcome to come onto our moderation discord (a link is in the navigation panel on the left in desktop view) to draw our attention to anything you think we may have missed. We try our best, but some things slip through the cracks, and letting us know is a great way to fix that.

I definitely understand where you're coming from. On other forums I used to be problematic myself, several years ago. A couple well-placed bans taught me a lesson, so I look forward to seeing your posts in the future, and I hope that it doesn't have to happen again! <3
